Dear Parents/Carers,

I would like to begin by sharing some excellent news! Last week, eight pupils from Year 5 and 6 went to the PAT Games Quadkids Athletics Competition at The Kings School. The pupils took part in a 75m sprint, standing long jump, 600m run and vortex howler throw and I am very proud to announce that we won the competition with an overall 1237 points! This is an amazing achievement and is testament to the sporting strengths the pupils have at Larks Hill. Well done everyone!

This week, a selection of Year 6 pupils went to the West Yorkshire Cricket Championships and won two of the games. This is another excellent sporting achievement. I am always very proud of the maturity and sportsmanship displayed by our pupils when they play against schools within our Trust and beyond. Well done everyone!

To maintain a sporting theme, this week, we have had our annual visits to Go Ape for Years 3, 4 and 5. This is always an excellent experience and provides our pupils with the opportunity to overcome fears, work in collaboration and build resilience whilst working at their own pace. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed their visit and were very excited upon their return with many feeling proud that they had achieved more than they ever expected.

A Few Memorable Moments

This term, Year 5 and 6 are studying The Victorians in History. On Thursday, they held a Victorian Day which saw the pupils and staff dressing up and spending the day in their classroom which had been adapted to represent a Victorian Classroom. The pupils got to experience writing in chalk on a slate, completing needlework and playing Victorian games at playtime. Everyone took their role seriously and there was much fun to be had, serving to deepen the pupils knowledge and understanding of this period in History further. Thank you to all the staff who planned this event and to parents who provided the costumes.

Next Week

Next week is our Career’s Week. We have many wonderful visitors in school who will speak with the children about their work. We are very much looking forward to it.

On Thursday 27th June, we will be welcoming the parents and carers of our new September starters into school from 5PM. If you have a pupil starting with us in September, we look forward to seeing you then.
