Happy Sunday Pirates,
It was a great week at Swansboro High School as students returned ready to tackle the spring semester. Report cards for the fall semester went home on Friday. You should be receiving emails from spring semester teachers that include course expectations and class happenings. Congratulations to our orchestra students who were selected to participate in All County Orchestra this weekend.
Last week in athletics included basketball wins over Richlands and Croatan. Our Lady Pirate wrestlers brought home the conference championship and the conference tournament championship! Our boys wrestling team placed third in the conference tournament. Congratulations to Elijah McCallister and Addison King for being recognized as the Farm Bureau Basketball Players of the Month by Mr. John Stanley. Our swimmers participated in regionals. Trevor Hucal took 1st in the 200 IM and the 100 Breast. Our 200 Medley Relay team including Layla Holland, Bergan Cassiano, Brooklyn Henderson, and Maddy Yates took 3rd. The girls team placed 5th and the boys team placed 6th overall.
This week in athletics will include basketball at Croatan on Tuesday. Indoor track will compete in the conference meet on Wednesday at West Carteret. On Friday, basketball will host Dixon while swim competes at states and ladies wrestling competes in Regionals at Havelock.
Join us to celebrate as we induct the Class of 2024 into the Swansboro Sports Hall of Fame. This year’s inductees include Claude Crews, Cindy (Floyd) Karl, and the 1986 Volleyball Team. The induction will take place on Saturday, February 8th at 6:00 p.m. at 213 West Wedding and Event Center. Tickets will be $50.00 and it includes your choice of a regular or vegan meal and drink. Anyone planning to attend the Induction ceremony, must purchase a ticket. This includes children of all ages. Tickets will be on sale through February 1st. Tickets will not be sold at the event! This week is also Counselor Appreciation Week. We are incredibly grateful for Mrs. Gardner, Mrs. Wallace, and Mrs. Rains and all they do to support our students, families and staff.
