Hello CHS Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors,
Governor Whitmer has declared Voter Registration Week this week.
In 2023, Governor Whitmer signed House Bill 4569 into law, which allows future Michigan voters to pre-register to vote when they turn 16 years old. This pre-registration enables eligible voters to vote as soon as they turn 18. To use this pre-registration process, a person must be at least 16 years old but not older than 17 and-a-half years old. If you pre-register, you can participate in early in-person or absentee voting for an election as long as you will be 18 on or before the date of the election. Those eligible to vote who are already older than 17.5 years old, were previously allowed to register under MI law.

Fall Sports Picture Day
Team and individual photos for Fall sports will take place on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. A schedule will be provided to coaches once it has been received from our photographer. Teams with events on the day of pictures (Boys Tennis and Volleyball) will have their photos taken first.
A few important notes regarding picture day:
All athletes will have their photos taken, regardless of whether they plan to place an order.
No order forms will be distributed prior to pictures, nor are they needed to place an order.
An ordering link will be sent to the parent email address/cell phone number that the school has on file. Alternative Photography will send the ordering link 7-10 days after the day photos are taken. All orders are placed online.
All orders will be shipped directly to the address provided when the order is placed.
A make-up date is scheduled for Tuesday, September 24, should any athlete miss having their picture taken on the 18th.
Electronic Registration Now Open
We have great news for our CHS athletes and their families! Student Central, the online portal for students and their parent/guardian to complete athletic paperwork, is now open!
FALL ATHLETES AND PARENTS/GUARDIANS
Please follow the instructions found at the link below to create your individual student and parent/guardian accounts. Once created, the accounts are linked together and both the student and parent/guardian can sign the required athletic forms. You DO NOT need to upload a copy of the physical you submitted for the Fall season. Our staff will manually enter and approve all physicals that have been received once the accounts have been set up.
Please see our Student Central Instructions for a step-by-step guide to creating the accounts.
WINTER AND SPRING ATHLETES AND PARENTS/GUARDIANS
Get ahead of the game! Create your accounts and complete the paperwork now. With the capabilities Student Central provides, we will be moving away from the tryout card request process starting with the Winter 2024-25 season. If you are currently playing a Fall sport, you do not have to upload a copy of your physical. Those will be added and approved by the athletic department.

STUDENT CENTRAL- Parent and Student Account Set-up
At this time, Student Central will only be for our high school athletes. We hope to offer electronic registration to our middle school athletes in the near future. If you have any questions creating the student and/or parent/guardian accounts, please feel free to email Mrs. O'Kelly at jokelly@clioschools.org or you can use the Student Central Help to contact their support team
Traver Talk
I'm happy to share that our school year is off to a fantastic start! Our students have shown incredible enthusiasm and dedication, setting a positive tone for the months ahead.
Last week, we kicked off our Positivity Project (P2) and this week we focused on the first character trait, curiosity. By encouraging students to ask questions and explore new ideas, we aim to foster a love of learning and a growth mindset.
To practice and encourage curiosity at home, please visit the mobile-friendly P2 for Families. There, you will watch a video clip together and discuss a quote and three questions related to the strength of curiosity.
Thank you for your support as we work together to make this year exceptional!
Mrs. Traver
Principal's Points
Each school year I make mention of the importance of showing GRIT, and how it is a life-long trait that is developed through hard work and effort. Failure is a necessary ingredient in developing the GRIT mindset, even though it is the toughest ingredient to digest. Building the capacity of GRIT allows all of us to pick ourselves up when life has knocked us down, taking every step to battle adversity when it rears its ugly head, and building important resilience layers that turn us all into problem solvers. We all have multiple opportunities to learn from mistakes and learn important details when something doesn’t go as planned.
GRIT is determination. It is that never-quit attitude that leads to success in whatever you choose to do in life. GRIT builds an "individual code" in all of us that helps us face our fears, ask for help when we are in need, and embrace "difficulty" as a way to grow! Implement GRIT into your daily practices at Clio High School this year and great opportunities await you, all!
As we move deeper into this school year, take some time to measure how your "GRIT Meter" is showing growth and improvement. If we keep adding to it, individual success will follow. Grit IS………..never settling for “just getting by”, raising your hand and asking for necessary help, and seeking out necessary resources to help you when you are in need. Grit IS NOT……. taking the easy way out, or avoiding difficult tasks or situations, and making excuses for less than your best effort.
Remember........... FAILURE IS A NECESSARY PART OF LEARNING, BUT FAILING TO TRY IS NOT AN OPTION. Let's keep growing together, and create the Mustang Charge toward success! #THEPLACETOBE, Join the Mustang Charge! Go Clio!
