Attendance After Lunch
Next week we will be sharing some data regarding student attendance after lunch. While we know options are limited around Jefferson, we want to encourage time management, which is one of the skills we teach when it comes to attendance. Please encourage your student(s) to use their time wisely during lunch, as we will begin monitoring and assigning consequences for those who are in violation.
Counseling/Social Work Corner
*Evening Scholars Registration Open*
Please connect with your counselor if you believe that you need to make up a failed class or classes in Evening Scholars this year. Registration is currently open for the fall term, which begins on September 30th. Classes are in the evening from 5-8pm, at various locations throughout the district.
*Schedule Changes*
The last day for students to request a schedule change was Friday 9/13. If there are extenuating circumstances that require a change after this date, students need to make an appointment with their counselor to discuss the need. Please note that students who drop a class after the 15-day drop window has passed will most likely see a WX or WF (withdraw/withdraw fail) on their transcript.
*Assistance with DACA Status and Paperwork
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28th 9:00-5:00pm
North West Family Services is offering a free event to assist people with DACA status and the legal paperwork. Please see attached flyers. Contact Ernesto Hernandez EHernandez@nwfs.org at NWFS with specific questions. Note - Ernesto is bilingual Spanish/English.
Please share. The date is coming soon 9/28/24 and appointments are required.
Gear Up
GEAR UP
Hello Demo Staff! I just wanted to take a moment to introduce this year’s team of GEAR UP Near Peer Mentors. This year we have a total of 7 NPMs, with 3 of them returning and Mancala also being a recent Jeff Alum. 😊Below are the bios that they wrote to share with everyone. Though the mentors are primarily working with their partner teachers in the classroom, we look forward to getting to know all of you and helping to create meaningful and culturally affirming college + career experiences for our students. I’ll be sharing more information about GEAR UP throughout the year, but in the meantime, please feel free to reach out anytime. I am so grateful to be here and am always happy to support however I can.
Warmly,
Noel Tamez

Demo Player Spotlight
Week of September 16th - September 21st
Name: Roman Radecki
Grade: 12th
Sport: Cross Country
Favorite pregame meal?
I like to keep it simple before a race. Normally just some salad roles and some fruit.
How long have you been playing this sport?
I’ve been running since track season my freshman year.
What famous athlete inspires you as an athlete?
Cole Hawker inspires me. His PR (personal best) may be slower than others, but that doesn’t stop him from winning.
Best moment of the season so far?
Winning my first cross country race is probably the highlight of this season so far!
[1st - Boys Varsity - PIL Preview at Lents Park]
Favorite part of being a Demo?
I love the Jefferson community, the fact that we’re smaller than the other PIL schools, but we’re so much closer and connected than them.
