US Band Contest
Lots of information for students and parents in the official post below. If your student is in an organization that looks for service hours, this is a great opportunity. Band/color guard members can volunteer up until the scheduled call time.

Prop Party
We're halfway done with prop assembly. Come help us with the rest. on Tuesday from 3pm-6pm we'll be finishing the props in the band hall.
Football Games
Please look for a separate email from the lead Chaperone Sherry Curran each week for volunteering for the football games and contests opportunities to help with our fabulous band and color guard.

We have some great news to share this week! The 2022-23 Clear Lake High School Wind Ensemble has been named a National Winner in the Foundation of Music Education’s Mark of Excellence – Wind Band Honors in class AAAAAA. Additionally, they were named a Commended Winner in the New Music Division for their performance of “Angels in the Architecture”.
Congratulations to our band members, and a special thank you to our administrators, staff, mentors, clinicians, colleagues, private lesson teachers, and parents for your continued support of our program!

In other great news, congratulations to the students that made the Region 17 Jazz Band on Saturday. Oliver Lampson placed 1st overall on trumpet and advanced to Area, Roman Enriquez placed 2nd overall on piano, and Ilijah Limon placed 4th overall on bass trombone. These students will perform with the Region Jazz Bands on November 9-10 and have a concert at the Clarion in Lake Jackson on November 10.
Since the weather rained on our first full uniform performance, we will do a full uniform dress rehearsal on Monday at Challenger Stadium. Students will need to bring their full band uniform, as well as normal rehearsal gear. We will just put the uniforms on for the run through at 7:15, and parents are welcome to come watch the run through. Students may drive or find their own ride, however, if their instrument goes on the trailer, they will need to make sure it is loaded/unloaded. This week’s schedule is below.
Monday September 18
2:35 School is out. As soon as the parking lot clears, we will load the trailer.

Orlando Trip letter of intent and first payment due
Orlando Trip
As a reminder, this year’s spring trip will be to Orlando, Florida! We will spend 5 days in the Disney and Universal Parks, as well as experience a recording studio session with a real Disney musician. Please read the trip letter for more information on this exciting opportunity! Students and parents wanting to go on this trip need to turn in the letter of intent and first payment by September 22, 2023.
School Owned Instruments
All students using a school owned instrument were given an Instrument Loan Contract to have signed and turn back in with payment. They are $75 per semester or $150 for the year. Please send those in as soon as possible.

Marching Uniform Care
Now that we will be wearing full uniforms at each game and contest, we want to let everyone know how to properly care for the uniforms so they stay looking great for all the upcoming performances.
Both the bibbers and long-sleeve tops are machine washable - wash in cold water with regular detergent (no bleach), tumble dry on low heat, remove promptly after drying and hang back up.
The uniforms should be washed after each performance, or set of performances (i.e., Friday night game followed by Saturday contest). On the weeks we have a back-to-back game and contest, the bibbers and top should be hung up in a well-ventilated area after the game on Friday night to dry out before the contest on Saturday. Also, after each performance, the shako box should be left open a few hours to air out.

We are 13 days out from our competition! All of our lead positions have been filled thank you Larry Rupp and Todd Draper for filling the last 2 spots. Thank you to the 7 band families that have already signed up to fill slots to make this fund raiser successful. Now I need to here from the 100 other Band families! Please don’t wait to the last minute. Because as it stands currently, we don’t have enough people helping out to host this event. I have 2-hour shifts that start at 7:30 in the morning until 10pm. The majority of the jobs are out of the sun and are strategically planned so you won’t miss your child preforming at 3:30pm. Please start a flash mob Signup go and fill the slots now because I need to know if we can pull this event off.
