On December 11th, Pima Butte Elementary School third graders performed four holiday songs for their friends and family at the District Office. This special celebration showcased their hard work and talents under the guidance of their teachers Mrs. Perio, Ms. Isenberg, and Ms. Palmer and music instructor Mrs. Barte. The holiday festivities were made even warmer and brighter with holiday cocoa, cookies, and window decorations for the students and family to enjoy. Thank you Pima Butte for a whimsical winter wonderland celebration!

Maricopa Elementary School is getting a major makeover! The roof replacement project for Maricopa Elementary will improve the structural integrity and durability of the roof. This project is on track to finish by spring break with a structured approach designed to minimize school disruptions. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve our schools!

Seventy-five fifth-grade students participated in the annual Invention Convention on December 16, showcasing creative solutions to real-world problems. The event, a culminating activity for the 2nd quarter, welcomed parents and community members to view the inventions and hear presentations. Five Maricopa High School DECA students also joined as guest judges. Excellent work, fifth graders!

Our Santa Cruz Elementary School Coyotes were nothing short of spectacular for their performance of The Nutcracker on December 17th. The colorful costumes, musical talents, and dancers really showcased all the hard work and dedication our students and staff put into the performance this year. Thank you parents and supporters who came out to see the show!

A Maricopa Wells Middle School family surprised student, daughter, and sister Sariah with the best gift this holiday season. Her sister, PV2 Ariel DeCluette, left for Army basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina in early October and hasn't been home to visit the family since. We wish you all a happy holiday and thank you for your service!

On December 13th, Desert Wind Middle School’s Team Luigi, under the guidance of English Literature teacher Ms. Yricka Ursal, hosted a memorable celebration in honor of the team's creative achievements. Students showcased their individual voices through a series of five collaborative books, each written from their unique topics of choice. The event, attended by parents, friends, and school staff, was marked by an atmosphere of pride and reflection as the authors shared their work. A special ceremony offered an opportunity to recognize the hard work of both students and educators. We look forward to seeing the continued growth and creativity of these young authors.

Desert Sunrise High School hosted the annual Jingle Jamboree for Santa Cruz Elementary School 2nd graders on December 12th. Festivities included cookie and ornament decorating, making snowflakes, hot cocoa stations, and a meet and greet with Gary the Golden Hawk! This heartwarming event was filled with holiday sprit and enjoyed by all. Thank you to everyone who helped make his an unforgettable event for our students!

Maricopa High School and Desert Sunrise High School varsity superstars from volleyball, football, flag football, and swim were recognized by our Governing Board on December 11th. These teams had incredible seasons with countless individual and team distinctions between them. Athletes and coaches, thank you for representing your high schools and our district so well!

Good attendance is essential to success. We are celebrating two schools whose extra efforts have paid off. We recognize Pima Butte Elementary School for best overall attendance in the second quarter and Santa Rosa Elementary School for second best overall student attendance.
