2024 Education Symposium
The Grace Fort Gouldsby Scholarship Foundation hosted an enlightening education symposium over Labor Day weekend, aimed at empowering and supporting our community!
On Saturday, August 31, the event took place at Village Communities in Texarkana, featuring a morning filled with insightful sessions and panel discussions. Topics included career exploration and readiness, influencer marketing and mental health. Additionally, state troopers addressed safety through interactive activities. The event culminated in the exciting giveaway of a MacBook to a deserving student.
It was a fantastic opportunity for attendees to engage, learn, and connect!
In-Person and Virtual Learnings
A great turnout in person and online! Participants learned about various careers and steps to build their skill sets, where industry experts and professionals shared valuable career tips and advice to help succeed in the ever-evolving job market.
Safety First
One of our student attendees wore specialized goggles that simulated the impairing effects of alcohol, giving them a firsthand experience of how vision, balance, and coordination can be distorted under the influence. This exercise highlighted the risks and challenges associated with impaired judgment and reaction times.
Giveaways
A handful of participants received an array of exclusive gifts, including premium athletic shoes, a MacBook, and a signed basketball and jersey from NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki, along with other exciting giveaways.
2024 Domino Tournament
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who contributed to the success of the GFGSF's first Texas Classic Domino Tournament held on September 1st, 2024 in Texarkana, Arkansas. Your participation, support, and generosity made this event a tremendous success in raising awareness and funds for our foundation’s mission.
This charity event was not just about the game of dominoes; it was about creating opportunities for high school seniors across the state to pursue their dreams of higher education. Thanks to your contributions, we were able to raise much-needed funds to continue supporting scholarships for deserving students in our community.
A Special Thank You to Our Participants: Your generous support played a key role in making this event possible. Funds from your entry fees will go on to make a real difference in the lives of students as they embark on their college journey.
Congratulations to Our Winners: Your competitive spirit and determination made for an exciting day. The tournament awarded up to $5000 to the top 8 placers which included $2500 to our first-place winner. The success of this tournament serves as a great example of the power of community and education.
Looking Ahead: We look forward to growing this event in the coming years and increasing the number of scholarships we can offer. Together, we can help provide greater opportunities for the bright minds of tomorrow.
Thank you once again for your support and for helping us make the Texas Classic Domino Tournament a success. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we look forward to your continued involvement in our mission to empower students to achieve their academic dreams.
