Assalamu alaikum respected parents,
I pray you are well, and making the most of the Spring Break in this blessed month of Ramadan. Please note that Sunday School will resume on next Sunday, March 31st and then will be closed for 2 additional weeks on 4/7 and 4/14 due to Qiyam-ul-Layl and Eid Holidays in sha Allah. Last Sunday (3/17), many of our students were fasting ma sha Allah and we had arranged alternate Ramadan themed activity stations for students during lunch where students enjoyed making Eid cards, playing Ramadan bingo with friends, coloring etc (see pictures in Photo gallery section below). Last week, we also assigned a special fun Spring Family Art Project to students to complete during Spring Break. Interested students received a coloring sheet (<-- linked) with a masjid drawing and were directed to:
1. Use their creativity to color and decorate the masjid however they want
2. Write their Ramadan goal this year on the space provided.
3. Stick the paper onto a Construction paper of any color to give it a frame.
4. Remember to write their name and grade.
5. Bring these back to school next Sunday, March 31st in sha Allah
Most importantly have fun being creative. We will display these at IFN for a Ramadan Art Exhibition in sha Allah. (Refer to the News You Can Use Section for one example)
MORNING ASSEMBLY: On Sunday (3/17), our morning assembly was led by our Parent Support Group member, Sr Asma Fazal. She talked to students about the importance of Surah Al - Fatiha! When we recite Al - Fatiha we are making Duaa and Allah (SWT) answers that duaa! We must read this surah with understanding and full Khushu because we have to read it so many times, as it is an obligatory part of our salah ! Our Prophet (S) tells us that when we read Suratul Fatiha, Allah (SWT) responds to each of the ayat that we recite . When we recite the ayat that have duaa, He (SWT) replies directly and tells us, “My servant shall have that for which he asks.” So, the duaas in Suratul Fatiha are directly replied to by our Lord swt.
