Let The Good Times Roll With The Acadia Parish School System
October is filled with lots of positive events around the parish.
- School Attendance winners for September were recognized with a flag banner to display on their campus. Kudos to Egan Elementary and Iota Middle School for achieving 95% or higher attendance for the month and Crowley High School for top growth in the parish for attendance.
- Elise Boutin was recognized at the BESE board meeting on October 9 for the honor bestowed on her as State Teacher of the Year. There was also a reception for all state education honorees held at the Old State Capitol. It was such an exciting day for Elise!! Please send her positive thoughts as she competes for National Teacher of the Year!!
- In recognition of Manufacturing Week, Midland High Schools students in the Family and Consumer Science class had the opportunity to tour JohnPac. Thanks to JohnPac and the Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development for allowing these students this awesome opportunity.
- Wednesday, October 16, juniors and seniors from our public high schools will attend the Acadia Parish College and Career Fair at the Rayne Civic Center. We are excited to have collaborated with the Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce to be able to include surrounding businesses to be a part of this event!
October 23-31 is designated as Red Ribbon Week focused on uniting students and communities combat against drug abuse. The theme this year is "Be Kind to Your Mind. Live Drug Free." Throughout the designated week students will participate in activities that emphasize healthy living, drug prevention and the importance of mental health. Please support our schools and students in their efforts to promote drug free awareness.
October 21-25 is National School Bus Safety Week. During this week we want to remind students and drivers to be vigilant and practice safety around school buses. Our bus drivers work hard daily to ensure that students arrive at school and home safely.
Reminder that report cards will be sent home on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
As superintendent of the Acadia Parish School System, I'm ecstatic to see the positive relationships being fostered between our schools and local businesses. I am continually inspired by the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our students, and the unwavering support from our families. Together, we are building not just a place for learning, but a place where students are empowered to grow into responsible and thoughtful individuals. Lastly, hope to see you enjoy the festivities at the 87th International Rice Festival this weekend!!
