BEMS Spelling Bee
The school spelling bee is coming! In order to qualify, students will participate in classroom spelling bees in their English/language arts classes the week of Nov. 11. All students will be given 20 words to spell, and those who meet the qualifications will be invited to Belmont Ridge's school spelling bee in December.
From Our Belmont Ridge Family Liaison
Looking for a fun project to do with your kids over this "mini fall break" and show your support for our troops? Our NJHS students are spreading some holiday cheer with Stockings for the Troops!
There are two ways to get involved. The first way is to shop for small stocking stuffers such as granola bars, beef jerky, trail mix packets, and other snacks, gum and mints, and travel-size hygiene items. Pick up a stocking to stuff it all in and top it off with a handmade card or handwritten note from your child. Filled stockings are due back to Belmont Ridge by November 15.
The second way is to visit our Amazon wish list and purchase items as you wish. Our NJHS will provide the actual stockings and work together to fill them. NJHS students will also make the cards that will go inside. All items will be shipped directly to Belmont Ridge MS. Deadline to purchase from this list is November 12.

All stockings will be delivered prior to Thanksgiving. If you have questions about this, please contact our Family Liaison, Susan Ferguson, at Susan.Ferguson@lcps.org. Thank you!
Author Visit - K. A. Holt
We are delighted to host author K.A. Holt on Friday, November 15th! Ms. Holt will present Poetry Is Never Boring! She incorporates many different poetic styles in her wonderful verse novels. Following her presentation, students who have bought their own copy of one of her novels to the assembly may have an opportunity to meet the author for a book signing. Please see the attached link for K.A. Holt's verse novels.

NJHS Parents
Parents of NJHS students, we are in need of several parent volunteers to help with our Veterans' Day observance on Monday morning, November 11. Our NJHS students will be putting American flags out along the drive, on our BEMS campus, and we need a couple parents to assist from 7:30 - 8:15am. The signup is currently on the NJHS Schoology page. Please ask your child to share the signup with you. Thank you!
