Fall 2025 Sports and Physicals

This is a great time to make an appointment for your student to get a physical with their doctor during summer break. All student athletes need to have a physical within the past 18 months. In the Fall, Begich will offer Boys Basketball and Cross Country Running.

8th Graders should know that high school fall sports start at the end of July or early August. High school fall sports include: running, swimming, volleyball, tennis, gymnastics, riflery, flag football (girls), and football (boys).

Congratulations to our Snow Leopards and families for finishing up the 24-25 school year! We’re proud of our students for an amazing year of PE! Students have grown in their fitness levels, athletic skills and abilities, sports concepts, and team mentalities. We hope students will continue being physically active during the summer. Here are a few ways to enjoy exercise in the great outdoors over the next few months: walk, jog, hike, bike, rollerblade, basketball, football, badminton, soccer, tennis, softball, baseball, wiffleball, street hockey, pickleball, ultimate frisbee, run races, swim, triathlons, kayak, rock climb, geocache, orienteer, fish, and/or utilize an outdoor workout center. Have a great summer!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and The Anchorage School District has partnered with the Cook Center for Human Connection and its Mental Health Resource Center. ParentGuidance.org is a website developed to provide parents, guardians, and caregivers with resources from clinicians and experts who offer guidance around issues related to the most common challenges parents face today: anxiety, social media use, school avoidance, bullying, and more.

ASD parents have access to the On-Demand Courses and Ask a Therapist resources. ASD does not currently participate in the Mental Health Series or Parent Coaching. Visit the Mental Health & Student Support website for more information on family and district resources.
