Career Connections at CIHS!!
Once again CIHS held a Career Connections Day! We had over 75 community members come to the high school to present and volunteer. 41 separate career sessions were attended by 1100 students, 10-12 grades. The goal of Career Connections is to provide an opportunity to students to learn about a career they are considering and to make connections with professionals in the Cambridge-Isanti community. The plan is to offer Career Connections Day twice a year, the next event will be Wednesday, April 30.
Career, College & Community Collaborative
C4 Group
The Career & College Community Collaborative Group (C4) has been meeting monthly again this school year to create a bridge between school, business & industry and college. C4 will continue to look at programming, opportunities and initiatives to push programs forward that benefit students. C4 has been instrumental in planning and executing Career Connections Day, Career Spotlights, field trips, industry tours and job shadow opportunities. Our most recent Career Spotlight highlighted careers in HVAC (see pics).
Program Spotlight
Bluejacket AMP
Bluejacket Advanced Manufacturing Program (Bluejacket AMP) at CIHS will introduce our students to in-demand career opportunities in advanced manufacturing while building marketable skills and competencies in the workplace. The program focuses on partnerships between local employers and CIHS to increase awareness of high growth, high demand career opportunities in manufacturing. The project will expose students to manufacturing careers through industry tours and career spotlight events. Interested students will enroll in the Bluejacket AMP internship class where they attend weekly seminar classes, complete OSHA 10 Certification and work at a paid internship.
Building strong business partnerships is vital to ensure students are receiving a true learning experience and supportive supervision on the job. Through Bluejacket AMP, manufacturing employers will be a part of a collaborative group and receive training and mentoring from The Repurposed Educators (RE).
