Thank you for a fantastic school year!
It feels like just yesterday that we welcomed students on the first day of school. This year has been filled with exciting learning experiences! We want to congratulate all the Center School students for their hard work and achievements.
A special thank you goes to our dedicated faculty and staff for delivering a high-quality educational program and supporting our students' social-emotional development. Center School students flourish because of the commitment of our faculty and staff, as well as the support of our families.
We also want to express our gratitude to all parents and guardians, our PTA, School Council, School Committee members, and everyone in the Center School community for your ongoing support. Our students have made significant progress this year thanks to your partnership. We couldn't have done it without you!
We would like to thank the Mattapoisett Fire Department, Police Department, and Public Library for their outstanding partnerships with our school. They attend and participate in school events, read to students, and provide educational opportunities.
Have a terrific summer!
Fondly,
Linda Ashley
Summer Reading: The documents linked below will be sent home with all students in grades 1 -3 in their report card envelopes. Please see the links below for PDFs of the documents in case you would like to print out another copy.
It is going to be an exciting summer for our students as Center and Old Hammondtown Schools partner with the Mattapoisett Public Library to encourage students to keep reading and prevent the dreaded “summer slide.” The public library has many special events planned, and a calendar is enclosed for your.
Head to the public library and sign up to play Book Bingo, challenge yourself with their Read and Bead program, and get a badge book or sticker sheet to mark your summer reading progress.
When you return to school in the fall, bring your bingo sheets, beads, badges, or stickers to library class to show Ms. Mirabito. She will ensure that your name is added to our summer reading bulletin board. We expect that there will be guest readers from the community popping in all the time. You may even see a teacher and a principal or two. Our community is so fortunate to have children’s librarian, Kevin Thompson, bring his excitement to create a summer reading program that’s fun, educational, and encouraging.
If you cannot make it to the library this summer, no worries. Please still bring back your Book Bingo sheet upon our return to school and give it to Ms. Mirabito, so you will be part of the school’s assembly and special bulletin board as we celebrate your achievements.
Thank you, Mr. C, volunteers, the Mattapoisett Police Department, teachers, staff, and students for making Center School Field Day a fun day for all!
Cooperation, teamwork, and good sportsmanship in action all day!
Kindergarten and second grade students learned about humpback whales by going inside a life-size inflatable whale, listening to and learning about whale songs, and investigating whale bones.
Thank you, New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance volunteers, for teaching us about humpback whales and local marine life! Salt the whale returns to Cape Cod each summer to feed on small fish and krill.
