Career Exploration
More than 20 Daniel Wright students toured the College of Lake County's technical campus recently to get a glimpse of different career programs such as culinary arts, cosmetology, and automotive technology.
"It was a great experience for our students that we hope to offer again!" said School Counselor Samantha Blue, who coordinated the visit.

Two students are headed to the state track and field meet this weekend after incredible records at sectionals last weekend. Gianna Forman (8th) is competing in the 400 M dash and broke the school record at sectionals by running it in 1:04.70. Grace Tosyali (7th) will compete in the discus and shot put. Good luck Warriors!
Overall, the track and field team had an amazing season! At the conference meet the sixth-grade girls placed first and the sixth-grade boys placed third. The other students placed in the top 10 of their grade levels.

The Art in the Shire Show last week was a great success. There were 45 participating Daniel Wright artists. The winners were Julie Liu (8th), first-place; Kevin Liu (7th), second-place, and Evelyn Honey (8th), third-place (not pictured). Congratulations!
Fire Station Visit
DW's guided students visited the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District recently so students could learn about and become more comfortable with firefighters!
Polar Bear Fundraiser
The Go Green Team students sold raffle tickets last week to raise funds for the Polar Bears International organization. Winning tickets received ice cream and candy prizes.

Lost and Found
With just 13 days of school before summer begins, direct your students to check the lost and found for missing items. There are jackets, lunch boxes, water bottles, and more. Claim them before the school year ends!
8th-Grade Dance Friday Night!
There's still time to pre-purchase your ticket to the dance! Advanced purchase is not required however, and eighth-graders may purchase a $35 ticket with cash prior to entering the dance on Friday, May 17, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at Daniel Wright. This is a memorable evening filled with electrifying music from our amazing DJ, mouthwatering snacks, and picture-perfect photo ops.

8th-Grade Pool Party Tickets on Sale Now
The PTO is thrilled to invite all eighth-grade students to a pool party on Thursday, May 30, from 11 a.m. to to 2 p.m. at the Lincolnshire Swim Club, 2 Yorkshire Drive, Lincolnshire. The admission cost is $15 online per student but increases to $20 at the door. The event includes unlimited swimming, a DJ, pizza, drinks, and Kona Ice. RSVP is required and attendees must agree to the liability waiver. Participants are advised to wear swimsuits, bring towels, and prepare for an outdoor event. In case of rain, a new date will be announced.

Run for D103 5K is this Saturday!
There is still time to sign up for the PTO Sponsored 5K! Come out this Saturday, May 18, and join over 565 of our friends and neighbors as we support our schools. Food, music, area businesses and more will be on site. Packet pick up for registered participants takes place at the District 103 offices, 111 Barclay Blvd., today, May 16, from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m., and Friday, May 17, from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Volunteers needed for 7th-Grade Pizza Party
The PTO is looking for adult volunteers to help with the seventh-grade end-of-year pizza party. The event takes place at North Park on Tuesday, June 4, from 11:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. No advance prep is necessary. All volunteers will be expected to help with set up, passing out pizza, water, and candy to students, clean up, and monitoring our students.

6th-Grade Finish Line
D103 PTO is organizing a special event called "Team 6th Finish Line" for sixth-grade students on Tuesday, June 4. The event will feature various games, activities, and sports on the Daniel Wright fields. Volunteers are needed to help supervise the games, and no pre-planning is necessary as everything will be set up in advance. Girls Flag Football
Discover the exhilarating world of Girls Flag Football, a sport rapidly gaining momentum in Illinois and nationwide! Stevenson PREP is thrilled to introduce our first-ever girls feeder flag football teams, igniting passion and camaraderie on the field. Join us for an unforgettable journey as our SHS girls feeder flag football program takes the stage, competing in the esteemed Chicagoland Youth Football League. With games scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the fall, the excitement knows no bounds. Practices kick off on Monday, July 22, offering flexible weekday sessions mostly after 6 p.m.
Center for Gifted Classes
The Center for Gifted is offering an exciting program for sixth- through eighth-graders to supplement our own Camp 103 Club this summer. Science Spectacular, an in-depth, immersion lab experience, will run Monday, June 10, through Wednesday, July 3, at Daniel Wright, weekdays 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. Course content will incorporate a chemistry lab, biological explorations, and an electronics lab, all hands-on and sure to challenge and inspire!
