Filipino American History Month-October
This Week at Builta
- On Wednesday, we recognized Unity Day and focused on being kind and respectful to our classmates.
- On Friday, the lunch supervisors held their weekly trivia contests during the lunch periods.
- This Sunday, Lisa Pagano and Osman and Aleena Arain are running on behalf of Builta School and the IPEF at the Naperville 5K/Half Marathon. We wish them the best of luck!
New Lunch Drop Off Procedures as of Monday, October 21
Beginning Monday, October 21, lunches will be dropped off on a lunch cart outside the building from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. If lunch is brought to school, it must be dropped off at the cart by 11:00 am. This change in lunch drop off practices is being instituted at all elementary schools in IPSD 204.
This new plan will help strengthen our security procedures by decreasing the amount of distractions from visitors and the opening of outside doors during the school day. The more the outside doors are closed, the more secure our building will be. Making these changes will help increase our attention and focus on students in the school.
Lunch Drop Off Procedures
Please do not ring the office bell. We can view lunches from the office camera.
When you drop off your child’s lunch, mark your student’s lunch with First and Last Name and Class. Labels are provided on the cart.
Leave the labeled lunch on the cart.
The cart and lunches will be brought into the building at 11:00 am.
Lunches will not be accepted after the cart has been brought into the building.
If a student doesn’t have lunch by their lunch period, we will tell students to get a school lunch from Organic Life.
Please note that regardless of the temperature or weather, lunch drop off will remain outdoors.
We appreciate Builta families for supporting and following this new lunch procedure and plan.

Student Costume Guidelines for Pumpkin Palooza
Dear Parents,
The PTA's Pumpkin Palooza is October 30. Dressing in costume and participation in this fall themed party is optional. Please contact your child's teacher if your child will not participate in the room party. The school will provide an alternate activity.
COSTUME GUIDELINES
Parents, as you and your child(ren) select costumes for the Pumpkin Palooza please keep the following information in mind.
Select a costume that is simple to put on over clothing. (Inflatable costumes cannot be accommodated.) It should be easy for students to put on and take off with little assistance from adults. Students will put the costumes on by themselves. Students will not be able to wear costumes to school. Make-up cannot be worn to school or applied at school.
Student costumes should be appropriate for an elementary school environment. Costumes depicting violence, showing blood, or showing the midriff (stomach area) are not to be worn.
All students are to bring their costumes to school in a bag. Students will change at school. Students will change back into their regular clothing before dismissal.
Due to safety reasons:
Masks cannot be worn and toy weapons and other sharp objects (i.e., wooden swords, guns) may not be a part of a costume. This practice follows district policy concerning weapons at school.
Spray cans of any type may not be used at school. (i.e., spray-on hair colors, make up, etc.).
