Keeping Safe Online Talk - Paul Litherland
On Tuesday 13th August at 6.00pm in the library we have been lucky enough to secure the services of Paul Litherland to do a Keeping Safe Online presentation for all parents and guardians in our community.
Paul is an ex police officer and will give you tips and insights into how to keep your family safe when accessing the internet and using social networking sites. He is highly regarded and presents to around 280 schools each year.
SNAFL Carnival
I would like to wish our Year 6 and some lucky Year 5 students all best as they compete in soccer, netball and AFL against other schools in our region tomorrow.
The carnival will be held at Morris Buzacott Reserve in Kardinya and parents/family members are most welcome to attend.
I would like to thank Mr Bridgeman for his organisation in preparation for this day. I would also like to thank Miss Jenzen and Ms Maloney for their expert coaching.
It should be a fun day.
Good luck!
P&F Meeting
Monday 12th August at 6.00pm is the first P&F Meeting for Term 3. The meeting will be held in the staffroom. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Pyjama Day - 14th August
On Wednesday 14th August the Social Justice Committee have organised a Pyjama Day to raise money for the Flame of Love Orphanage in the Congo. For a gold coin donation, the students can come dressed in their warmest winter PJ’s as a way of helping out those in need. The staff will also join in what promises to be a fun day.
Feast of the Assumption
Thursday 15th August, is the Feast of the Assumption and we will be celebrating as a school by having a Liturgy at 9am in the church. All parents and community members are invited to celebrate with us.
Playing after school
It has come to our attention that there have been some behaviour incidents happening after school on the grassed area outside the library and the playground. If students are playing in these areas, they need to be under parental supervision as there are no teachers on duty after 3.00 pm (apart from pickup areas). If behaviour incidents continue to occur, we will ban students from playing after school. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
Code of Conduct - Staff, Parents & Community Members Reminder
The Catholic Education Code of Conduct establishes minimum standards of conduct in all behaviour and decision-making to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all members within the CEWA community. The Code of Conduct also shows us how, as a community our behaviours are a collective work that each day builds social justice into the life of our schools. Pope Francis insists that “true social justice is impossible if the human person is not the centre of concern”.
The following 12 statements outline the expectations of all staff, parents and community members:
1. You act safely and competently.
2. You give priority to students’ safety and well-being in all your behaviour and decision making.
3. You act in accordance with the values of the Gospel as defined in the Code of Ethical Conduct.
4. You conduct yourself in accordance with laws, agreements, policies and standards relevant to your relationship with the school community.
5. You respect the dignity, culture, values and beliefs of each member of the school community.
6. You treat personal information about members of the school community as private and confidential.
7. You give impartial, honest and accurate information about the education, safety and well-being of students.
8. You support all members of the school community in making informed decisions about students.
9. You promote and preserve the trust and privilege inherent in your relationship with all members of the school community.
10. You maintain and build on the community’s trust and confidence in Catholic schools and the Church.
11. You act reflectively and ethically.
12. You allow students to have a voice in their education, safety and well-being.
Best Wishes

Wellness Week - Week 5 12th to Friday16th August.
Wellness Week takes place in week 5 of every term. It is a chance to focus on wellbeing and take deliberate action to look after our mind, body and spirit.
Here's what is happening in Wellness Week:
URStrong Day of Friendship Monday - online event for all 1-6 classes.
Students can wear sports uniform all week (don't forget Pyjama Day on Wednesday!).
Extended play for a recess and lunch.
Buddy class get-togethers.
No homework unless self-directed.
Staff will have no after-school meetings.
Look after you by treating yourself to something fun, easy and relaxed. Use it as a catch-up week or a 'reset' week, or whatever is going to ease your mind and body. Hopefully what we practice in wellness week may become common practices every week.
Are you doing something differently in Wellness Week? I would love to hear of your ideas, and with your permission, share it with the school community. You can reply to the post on Seesaw. Thank you.
Yours in Wellbeing
