The triangle sum theorem states that the sum of all the interior angles of a triangle is always 180 degrees. Today, in Math 2.5, the students discovered the theorem themselves by cutting a triangle, tearing off the angles, and placing them side to side. All students' triangles' angles created a straight line. The students theorized through math discourse that all interior angles of all triangles must add up to a sum of 180 degrees.

This month's Capturing Kids Heart's word of the month has been teamwork. Students in PE class this week participated in an activity where they were able to put their teamwork skills to a test. Students had to get the entire class across the gym without touching the gym floor by using their "survival kit". Each survival kit included 2 scooters, 1 yoga mat, 3 carpet squares, a rope and a bed sheet.

We are excited to offer some fresh, new apparel for all of our Bulldogs here at OMS. This online store has the option to purchase premade designs or build your own custom apparel. Orders can be shipped to your home or picked up in Hamilton. The store will be open until March and makes a great gift for any Bulldog Fan.

The Middle school softball season will begin in March and runs through the end of May. We will begin organizing teams and schedules in January so it is important that we know how many girls want to play. The cost to play middle school softball has been around $175. We are a club and everything we do is self-funded.

In the past we have been able to have two middle school teams that are made up of all three grades. This year, we are looking for volunteer coaches for both teams.

The due date to sign up for middle school softball is Friday December 20th. We will not be taking any late sign-ups after December 20th.

Musical auditions are quickly approaching! To ease some nerves of auditions we will be doing a musical workshop On December 4th from 6:30-8pm in the high school choir room! We would love to see anyone who is interested in the musical there!

Keegan is an outstanding LINK! He recently volunteered to join our Unified Basketball team to put his LINKS skills in action on the court. He is leading the path for his peers and modeling for others what it means to truly include others.

Have you heard? We are once again offering Math Lab after school in the Media Center!

Who: Middle school students who have received an invitation (via guardian email)

What: Extra support for math ELTs

When: Monday/Tuesday from 2:45-3:45 OR Wednesday/Thursday from 2:45-3:45

Where: OMS Media Center

Why: If a child scores below 60% on an essential learning target (ELT) assessment, they will be invited to attend two days of math lab to receive reteaching and another attempt at the assessment. The invitation will be sent via email to parents/guardians from Ronda Conner (rconner@otsegops.org). Guardians must sign their student up via Google Form (linked in invitation email) in order for a student to attend Math Lab.

***Please stress to your child to come to Math Lab with all of their math resources: workbook, chromebook, notebook, note sheets, calculator, and pencil.

How to access SAVVAS- This video includes how to access SAVVAS (Envisions program) to do assignments, quizzes, tests, past scores, and how to access and find videos to help understand topics better.
