The school will be going skating on December 18 and 19. Check below for your child's time and day and please remember to send a CSA approved helmet. Look for your child's permission and volunteer intent forms in your mailbox soon.

Starting in January, we will be inviting parents to join their children for all hot lunches at school. You can attend one or all of them. Please note, this does not include Hot Dog Wednesdays, but only the hot lunches typically held on Fridays. Parents can either pre-order hot lunch through the school along with their child’s order or bring their own food. Siblings are also welcome to eat together. This will take place in the classrooms during the lunch period from 12:22 to 12:52.

If you haven’t already, please complete your volunteer confidentiality agreement and remember to sign in at the office when you arrive. You can fill out the Volunteer Agreement [here].

The pickup date and time for the Growing Smiles fundraiser is Tuesday, December 10 between 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the gymnasium. Make sure to enter by the doors to the gymnasium to pick up your plants. With the weather conditions, if you do not pick up your plants by 5:00 p.m. on this day, the Friends of A.L. Horton are unable to guarantee the condition of your purchases.

Friends of ALH still have some pails of ice melt available and with the icy conditions its a great time to buy! Please Contact Chantelle at 780-632-1614 to purchase.

On November 25, 28, and December 4, we had three separate false alarms with one of our fire alarms at the front entry. The alarm was originally triggered accidentally. In the process, it became loose, when a few days later, a delivery was placed next to the alarm box. It fell into the alarm box, leading to the second false alarm. While a cover was being installed on the alarm box by Facilities to prevent further false alarms, it was triggered a third time. The issue has been rectified; a cover has been put in place, the alarm box is being replaced and should hopefully no longer be an issue.

Emails were sent quickly to families by Communications each time. Except for a class or two, the false alarms were caught in time to stop classes from ever evacuating the building. The fire department was never deployed to the school on any of the occasions
