Bryantville Elementary School
Weekly Update
April 11, 2025
A Note from the Office
Bryantville Families,
Happy Friday! MCAS season is here, and our students have been working so hard on their ELA tests. Our third graders persevered through their testing last week, and our sixth graders concluded their testing today. The ELA portion of the testing will conclude this upcoming week with grades 4 and 5 testing on Tuesday and Wednesday. Students should make every effort to be present and on time. The hallways continued to be filled with the results of our students’ hard work. Our kindergarten students are creating Spring themed projects, the fourth graders have written I Am Simile Poems and state projects, and grades 3, 5 and 6 have completed student created data projects. Last week we also celebrated Paraprofessional Day! We are so grateful for all of our paraprofessionals and the support they provide our students and staff. We would not survive without them! Thank you for your continued support, and we hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Jen Simmons and Traci Costa
FRIENDLY REMINDERS
2025-2026 Class Placement Process
We are approaching the season of spring parent conferences and the subject of class placement for next year may come up. Class-building is something to which we devote a great deal of time and thought throughout the Spring. The responsibility for the placement process at Bryantville is shared among the grade level teachers, Mrs. Mannix, our school psychologist, Ms. Riley, our social worker, and the Bryantville administration. Your child's present teacher has current information and helpful insights as to how each student works best in school, and this input will be invaluable in creating the class lists for next year. This information, combined with data from specialists and special educators, provides the basis for placement.
Our goal is to build balanced and compatible classes of similar sizes to create classrooms that foster learning and community. We balance classes with respect to gender, social maturity, special learning considerations, and achievement levels. We also try to ensure that each child has a friend in the new class. The classroom teachers often talk with each child about some friends with whom they work well. Good in-school friends are children who work well together and support one another in a school setting. Friendships that are productive and rewarding outside of school are not always conducive to school learning. Sometimes children have formed exclusive friendships with one or two children, and it may be in the best interests of both children to be separated so they can broaden their social horizons.
The school placement team makes the decisions in this process. If you have additional information about your child and his/her learning that you feel will be helpful to the team, please share it with me in writing or by email no later than Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Correspondence received after April 30 will be too late to be considered in this process. Also keep in mind, we do not accept requests for specific teachers. Please do not put your child’s teacher in an awkward position by making such a request.
Our primary objectives are to ensure that all children will be assigned to classrooms in which they can learn and grow academically and socially as well as to build classes that will function as lively, heterogeneous groups. Finalized class placements are mailed home over the summer. Please contact either Mrs. Simmons or Mrs. Costa if you have any questions about this process.

Nurses Corner
It’s that time of year with an increase in absences. Please remember:
If your child will be absent from school be sure to call the school at 781-293-5411 and select option 3 to leave a message on the absent line by 9AM. Be sure to state your child's name, homeroom and reason/symptoms.
Notes to the Nurse - If your child is missing school for a doctor’s appointment, be sure to submit a doctor’s note to Nurse Nali. The note can be dropped off at the main office, emailed to Jason.Nali@pembrokek12.org, faxed to 781-294-4662 or send the note in with your child and the homeroom teacher will submit it to the office.
The Nurse is in need of new or gently used tops and bottoms size 5-6T or size small for when students have an accident and need to change. If you have anything to donate, please send in with your student or drop off to the main office. Thanks in advance.
Postural Screenings
The annual postural screening will be done during the months of April/May and
will let students know ahead of time regarding more specific dates.
According to Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 71, postural screening must be done
in grades 5-9. The purpose of the postural screening is to identify early signs of spinal
problems. Most scoliosis and other spinal issues can be easily treated upon early
detection. Students will be screened by gender and privacy is respected at all times.
Prior to the screening, some students may feel more comfortable wearing a halter top
or a sports bra as this type of clothing facilitates better examination of the back. Any
unusual findings are reported to parents/guardians. Please notify your child’s school
nurse if they are already followed by a physician for a spinal problem.
If for any reason you Do Not wish for your student to participate in this
program or is already followed by a physician, a signed letter or email must be
submitted to the school nurse BY April 11th.
If you have any questions, please contact Nurse Nali @ 781-293-5411 or via email

Thinking of volunteering at Bryantville
Please take a moment to check with the main office to see if your CORI is up to date. CORI’s are good for (3) years. Forms are available in the main office. You will need to physically bring your license to the main office for us to complete the background check. Thank you.
