Dear Preschool Families,
On October 9, 2024 preschoolers will not have school. Come join us for an afternoon of literacy adventure at the Niles-Maine District Library (6960 West Oakton Street in Niles, IL 60714)! Students will have the opportunity to explore the KidSpace and participate in story time and sing alongs with their classmates and families! RSVP HERE by October 2, 2024 to receive a time slot. Due to space limitations, there will be two groups based on the classroom your child is in. If you are interested in and need a library card, please let your child's teacher know and we can help you get the form to sign up. These forms will need to be turned in a week before the trip to make sure your card is ready for you on October 9.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support!
Sincerely,
Barb Golik
Principal
Fall Festival and Costume Parades
Here you will find information regarding the Costume Parade at the Early Learning Center on Thursday, October 31st.
We will not have volunteers in the building on this day. Our students will participate in fall themed activities during the day and we will adhere to District 63's guidelines and procedures centered on school health and safety. Healthy snacks will be offered and information regarding these is listed in the letter. Please DO NOT send in any candy, treats, or food items for students in your child's classroom. Any food items will be sent back home.
Notes from the Nurse
As part of our commitment to support the health of our students, we will be conducting our annual Hearing and Vision Screenings on October 22 & October 23. These screenings are essential in identifying potential issues that may impact your child’s learning and development.
How to help prepare your child:
Talk about the screenings:
For hearing screenings, the child will listen for a sound through headphones. They should raise their hand each time they hear a new sound.
For vision screenings, the child will look at the "camera.” It will be similar to taking a picture.
- Ensure corrective devices are worn:
If your child wears glasses or hearing aids, please make sure they bring them to school everyday
After the screening: If any concerns are identified, I will notify you with a recommendation for further evaluation by a healthcare provider.
Thank you for your continued partnership in helping us support your child’s health and academic success.

Backpack Tags
Please make sure to send your child to school with their backpack each day. Attached to their backpack will be a tag (an example is pictured) that helps us identify each student and the classroom that they need to go to. We ask that you do not remove these from your child's backpack as they help all of our staff make sure that students get to their correct classrooms. If the tag for your student has been misplaced please let the teacher know and we will get you a new one.
If you are in need of a backpack for your child, please let the classroom teacher know and we can help to secure one.
New Parent Communication System
This year the district has transitioned to a new parent communication system called BrightArrow. Texts from our new parent communication system, will come from 79041, and families must "opt in" to receive them.
Text "YES" to 79041 receive text message and never miss an update again!
REPORTING ABSENCES
If your child has to miss school due to illness or any other reason, please submit via the Parent Portal.
How to use the Parent Portal to report your child’s absence:
- All absences must be submitted on the morning of the day your child will miss school - NOT the night before. Once you log into the Portal, you’ll choose your child’s name and navigate to a list of online forms. Select and complete the “Absence Form,” and then submit.
- You can find detailed, step-by-step instructions at any time on our District 63 website.
