WCCC Welcomes over 2,000 students for Sophomore Explore
Annual event brings students from around the county to see WCCC
On Thursday and Friday over 2,000 sophomore students from Little Miami, Kings, Franklin, Waynesville, Springboro, and Lebanon high schools visited the Warren County Career Center to learn about the options for career-technical education. Student ambassadors came to visit the sophomores at their home schools earlier this month and students picked programs that they wanted to see and learn more about. During the Sophomore Explore event the sophomores went to the labs they were interested in, on Main and Atrium campuses, and were able to meet current students, talk to instructors, and see some of what happens in the lab.
“WCCC is a special place,” said Main Campus Director Ron Corradini. “I love that we get to show so many students that there’s another option for them, a place that may be a better fit for them and what they want to do with their life.”
Sophomores visiting the culinary lab were able to roll dough balls for baking. When they visited the fire science lab they were able to try on gear, do a dummy drag, and learn forcible entry. In the pre-nursing labs, students were able to use a simulator to see if they could draw blood. Students who were unable to attend Sophomore Explore, want to explore more labs, or want to revisit labs with their parents are invited to our Open House on December 5th from 4:00-7:30 PM.

WCCC Board Member Named to All-Ohio School Board
Last week at the Ohio School Boards Association Capital Conference, the vice president of the Warren County Career Center Board of Education, Bobbie Grice, was named to the All-Ohio School Board. As the most esteemed award from the OSBA, Bobbie was selected as the representative from the Southwest Region. She has been on our board of education for two decades as our representative from Little Miami Local Schools and we are thankful for her support of the Career Center and career-technical education.
“I’ve had the privilege of knowing and working with Bobbie for years and years, and there are few people who are as committed to doing what’s best for our kids than her,” said Career Center Superintendent Joel King. The Career Center Board of Education is a seven member board with one member from each of our partner schools and one additional member from one partner district that serves on a rotating basis in order to have an odd number of members.
