Imagine Learning Information Session
Select MLL Students Only: Invite To Come
If your student has been enrolled in Imagine Learning for the new school year, you may want to learn more about the program. Click on this link for a video (English or Spanish).
Imagine Learning is an adaptive, interactive program that teaches language and literacy concepts at your student's level and helps them practice what they've learned. You can help your student succeed by being involved in their Imagine Learning experience by encouraging your student to use Imagine Learning at home. The more they work on it, the quicker they will become fluent in English. Also, please feel free to review your student’s progress with their teacher.
If you have additional questions or would like to learn more about this program, Ms. Carlson in the Parent Center will host a Parent Information Session on Wednesday, November 20 at 1:00pm - 2:00pm. Hope to see you there!

Career Day: November 22: Come Talk to OUR Students!
Dear Parents of Summerour:
As we plan our Career Day program for this year, we call upon our parents and neighbors to help us provide our children with exposure to the many careers and jobs available in our community. Summerour Middle Career Day will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024. We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to participate and share information about your occupation with our students. The program will begin at 10:00 A.M. and end at 2:40 P.M. You do not have to be available for the entire time frame to participate in this program. We will do everything possible to accommodate your schedule.
We need your help to achieve the task of informing our students of the many opportunities that may be available to them. Your professional expertise is invaluable in helping young people make informed decisions about education and careers. Our goal is that our students grow into productive citizens, and it is our belief that your presentation will have a lasting impact and influence on our students overall educational and professional careers. An early introduction to the many career opportunities available is critical in assisting students in making quality decisions about their future.
We are inviting you to be a part of this program and we hope that you can join us! Should you choose to participate in our Career Day please be prepared to develop a 20 minute challenging and interesting discussion for our students. Our schedule will enable you to speak with one, two, three, or four groups of students for 20 minutes intervals.
If you agree to participate, we will need to have detailed information on the format you desire. For instance, will you use a PowerPoint Presentation (please have this on a flash drive), would your presentation be better for a small group or could you accommodate a large group, would you prefer to stay stationary in one classroom or is it okay for you to move around, would you prefer a virtual setting, do you need school security clearance so that you can visit a website, {a week notice is needed} etc.
Remember, your presentation can serve as a springboard to a great future! Please RSVP ASAP, by sending an email to robin_blackwell@gwinnett.k12.ga.us or calling at 770-417-2487. Thank you for taking time out to assist our students, and we look forward to having you join us on this eventful day.
Respectfully, SMS Counseling Department

IB learners are Thinkers. They exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems, and make reasoned, ethical decisions.
IB students contribute to discussions in a meaningful way. They do not shy away from challenging questions and, once they know the answer, follow up by asking “why?”
