COLONIAL CORES & EXPECTATIONS – It was a great first week with students as we reviewed basic overview of expectations, policies, and procedures and following up this week as noted above. We have created the Colonial Core page on our website for our community to access the overview of the Colonial Cores and what we teach and the expectations we have for students and all of us in a variety of settings. We will continue to model and revisit these throughout the year!

9th GRADE UPDATES
The 9th grade heads to Camp America this week: Team Fire (9A) on Monday and Team Ice (9C) on Tuesday. Students will be engaged in various team building activities. They held the final informational meeting with the grade on Friday during I & E.
9th Grade Cooking Students practiced knife skills and whisking, and made German Pancakes with a Cinnamon Apple Filling.
8th GRADE UPDATES
This year, 97 eighth-grade Advanced Science students are participating in the Science Fair. These students have already spent a great deal of time exploring possible topics, developing unique, testable questions, and researching their project. Over the coming months, they will develop procedures, test their experiments, conclude their results, and finally present their projects at the Bucks County Science Fair.
7th GRADE UPDATES
The 7th Grade Social Studies Department is looking for volunteers to come to Holicong on Veterans Day. A blast was sent out to families this week: The focus is to honor our Veterans and educate the next generation of young Americans. We are inviting any friends or relatives of the students at Holicong to come speak to small groups of seventh graders on Monday, November 11th during their social studies class. Speakers can come for part of the day or stay for the entire school day (9:50am-2:30pm), if their schedule allows. Veterans would be asked to speak with a small group of students; sharing their stories, explaining the historical context of their service, answering a few questions, and perhaps showing any artifacts they may have from their time served. Our hope is that we get enough volunteers to create 10-15-minute sessions between groups of students and veterans.
CBSD Thanks Volunteer Emergency Responders with Tax Rebate
If you are a volunteer with a local fire company or nonprofit emergency medical service agency, CBSD wants to thank you for your service by helping reduce your property taxes as a result of a newly enacted Volunteer Service Tax Credit Program passed by the School Board in Sept. 2024. To qualify for the tax credit, volunteers must be active members of an eligible fire or emergency medical services agency and earn points based on their service. Learn more

This character encounter is top notch, so wear your best costume and make sure you have your cameras ready. Your $5 donation goes entirely to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. RSVP here. (Note: Parents and caregivers are expected to please stay with their children during the event!)Info on Flexible Instructional Days, Expectations for Families and Students
A Flexible Instructional Day (FID) is designed for situations where school buildings need to close due to weather or other emergencies, but learning can still continue at home. Utilizing a FID allows us to avoid extending the school year or disrupting the instructional calendar as well as provides an opportunity for students to practice their skills and become more independent learners. Elementary and secondary students and families have certain expectations should a FID be necessary. Complete information, including an explanatory video with a translatable script, can be accessed on our FID webpage.
