“I have had other parents ask me why UELF is so outdated and in disrepair when other schools in the district have new buildings and have been updated. What is the best way to respond to this question?”
What I have learned in my three years at UELF is that there was a plan for our UELF site, however there was an urgent need to create a CRPUSD space for Tech High. Tech High had been on the SSU Campus for 20 years, then there was immediate need for a new space. It was critical for our district to get a site ready for this amazing high-school program. Funds that had been for UELF were used there. I recognize this doesn't seem right, however it is valuable for our secondary programs to be strong and competitive for our young adults. As your cute little ones get older, you will see how important it is to have a strong, desirable program for them to get into at the secondary levels.
I am excited to share what we DO have planned for our site. Here is what our director, Josh Savage shared with me...
Here are the projects we have planned at UELF this spring/summer and the following summer:
- HVAC Tuneup with the exception of A wing - Contractor will be going through each unit on campus to ensure HVAC is working in optimal condition and installing new thermostats with CO2 sensors in all classrooms - Estimated start date is during spring break - Estimated cost is $35,000 - $45,000
- Campus Painting - This should commence at the beginning of June - CRPUSD staff will be painting, so completing this work could go into next school year - Estimated cost is $120,000
- Parking Lot Repair/Slurry Seal - Goes out to bid in March - Estimated completion is July 2023 - Estimated cost is $45,000 - $60,000
- Multi-Use Room Flooring - Goes out to bid in March - Estimated completion is July 2023 - Estimated cost is $60,000
- A Wing HVAC Replacement - Currently working with QKA Architect for DSA approval - Estimated completion is July 2024 - Estimated cost is $800,000
As you can see, we plan to invest over $1 million in projects over the next year at UELF.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Classrooms teachers are looking for parents to be fingerprinted and registered for field trips, special events, and classroom jobs. Get yourself set up so you're ready to be there when your student needs you.
ALL volunteers must complete the CRPUSD Volunteer Registration Process, which includes fingerprinting. Please complete the application form and get yourself fingerprinted. This MUST be completed before you can volunteer. Once this is completed, you are clear for the duration of your child's school experience in CRPUSD, including high-school and middle school!

Interventions....What does this look like?
Intervention is the intentional action of meeting a student where she is and pushing her towards her plus one, healthy struggle of learning to build the capacity to grow. In the classroom, this is done with partner work, teacher small groups, support staff 1:1 check-ins, chunking of tasks, alternative tasks provided. EVERY STUDENT is expected to grow and work to their capacity!
UELF is providing before school school and after-school Student Study Stamina Sessions. If you are interested in learning more about these work sessions, please let your teacher know. UELF is also working with SSU and the CRPUSD high-schools to have tutoring available after school and on Tuesday nights via Zoom from 7pm to 8pm. Look for more information as we get the tutors signed up!
In my recent parent meetings (Site Council, ELAC, and PTA), it was communicated the need for math supports. Below are resources shared from our fall Maths Night that families have found helpful.
Math Resources
- Online tools that aline with the math curriculum (Eureka) we use at UELF/CRPUSD.
