Unit Rates with Mrs. Brown
Mrs. Brown's 6th grade Math students started the week by learning about unit rates.
Comparison shopping
Students went “grocery shopping” at different online stores to compare the unit prices of various items and determine the best place to shop!
Scavenger Hunt
Students in Mrs. Diehm's Math 8 work on and Equation Scavenger Hunt during class.
Project based partnerships
Math 8 students in Mrs. Diehm and Mrs. Telecsan's class had the option of picking from 1 of 3 differentiated projects based on the skill they have demonstrated with graphing and slope intercepts.
Geometric math
In Geometry, students have been learning about similar figures. Students were able to choose to make a figure out of similar triangles or to create a fractal. Both projects allowed students to have a deeper understanding of similar figures.
Telecsan cont'd
In Algebra 1, students have been learning about functions and now working on systems of equations with graphing, substitution, elimination, word problems, and systems with exponential functions.
Pre-Algebra graphing
Students in Mrs. Heath's Pre-Algebra class are working on graphing linear equations with finding slope and y-intercepts. Together they are “killing monsters” on their coordinate grid to make sure they have all the different slope options
Honors Math 6
Students are working on the Wordy Wednesday challenge. This is a collaborative challenge designed to build number sense, computational fluency, and problem-solving skills
Mrs. Rose's make board tokens
This week in Mrs. Rose’s classroom students learned how to convert customary and metric units. Students were able to practice converting units by playing a boardgame in groups of four. Students spent some time creating their own game board tokens and then played against their teammates to see who could make it to the finish line first.
