SGA Spirit Week This Week- Monday (PJs), Tuesday (Eyesore), Wednesday (groups), Thursday (sports), Friday (2020)- for more info, see below

Girls Soccer Game- Our girls soccer team hosts North Bethesda on Wednesday, May 1st. Westland student fans are encouraged to be there to cheer the wildcats on.

8th Grade Parent Event at BCC- Parents/caregivers, see below about a wonderful, welcome event at BCC on May 1st.

Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Jewish American Heritage Month- With the start of May, Westland begins to honor and learn about Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage and Jewish American Heritage.

Madagascar JR- Join the Westland players for their performance of Madagascar Jr on Friday, May 3rd at 7 PM, Saturday, May 4th at 2 PM or Saturday, May 4th at 7 PM.

Last Call for Colorsplash Registration- Registration closes Friday, May 3rd for the May 11th event. You and your kids will have SO MUCH FUN!

Educator Appreciation Week- During the week of May 6th, consider sending a note of thanks to a staff member who has made a difference for you or your child.

MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) Testing- All students will complete MAP testing on the mornings of Tuesday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 8.

Girls Soccer Game- Our girls soccer team hosts Cabin John on Tuesday, May 7th. All Westland student fans are welcome.

PTA Meeting/Conversation with Counselors- On Tuesday, May 7th at 7:00 PM join our Westland counselors in a conversation about transitions and changes between grade levels.

Colorsplash Fun Run- Join us on Westland's track on Saturday, May 11th from 5-7 PM. Sign up below to run, walk or volunteer.

8th Grade Parents- BCC Event on May 1

Calling all 8th grade parents! Join us for a parent-to-parent discussion about helping your soon-to-be rising 9th grader make a smooth transition from middle school to B-CC High School. While our panel of veteran B-CC parents unfortunately don’t have a definitive map, they do have many helpful insights, experiences, and resources to share!

When: Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 6:00 pm

Where: Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School Café

Get tips on vexing topics such as:

adapting to a much larger school;
open campus lunch;
academic workload and support;
the differences between and pros & cons of taking Honors, AP, and IB courses;
student social life and activities; and much more!

The panel will be preceded by a short reception with tables you can visit to speak with representatives from the terrific academic support programs available to B-CC students . . . from TAP to peer tutoring to CollegeTracks (https://www.collegetracksusa.org/what-we-do/) as well as a welcome and introductory remarks from B-CC principal, Dr. Shelton Mooney.

8th Grade Parents- Save the Date- May 31

Have you been dying to chaperone a Westland field trip?

What if I told you it was to Dave and Busters?!!?!?

Details will follow but we will need many parents to attend our school-day, 8th grade trip to Dave and Busters on Friday, May 31st. If you can hold that date (and complete the volunteer training) we would love to have you laugh with our kids losing/winning tickets at Deal or No Deal and slashing kiwis and pineapples as Fruit Ninjas.
