Good luck to our orchestra and band students who will be participating in the Northbrook Township Solo and Ensemble Festival this Saturday at Wood Oaks Junior High School. Emotions matter: red feeling words
As we explore the ways all emotions matter, this month, we are focusing on the red quadrant of the mood meter. This quadrant is home to emotions that feel unpleasant and have high energy in our bodies, including feelings like ‘shocked’ and ‘anxious.’
We are reminded that there are no bad emotions and learn about how to regulate these feelings. We also develop an understanding that even unpleasant emotions, though they may feel uncomfortable, can serve us in certain situations. Being in the red quadrant is beneficial in situations where we need to rise to a challenge, passionately defend an idea, or keep ourselves safe from danger.
Want to move out of the red? Try taking a walk, listening to music, or taking deep breaths.
