Mr. Macken's Message
Centerville Families,
Thank you for helping your kids through another awesome week at school! You might have noticed they’ve been a little more tired or craving some extra love and attention lately. The excitement of new schedules, teachers, friends, and routines can be a lot for them to handle. Our teachers get that and are doing a great job building strong relationships and establishing routines to help your kids feel comfortable and set up for success.
Over the last two weeks, our students have been participating in our Kindness Kick-Off We’ve been learning all about kindness and how we can practice it every day at Centerville Elementary. Over the weekend, please ask your child how they’ve been making a positive difference around the school.
This week, we’ve focused on safety both in school and on the bus. Students got bus safety booklets and learned all about staying safe while riding and what to do in an emergency. In the classrooms, we’ve also talked about different safety scenarios and how we would respond. The students did great, listening carefully and asking really thoughtful questions.
Looking ahead, don't forget that Picture Day is coming up on Friday, and our Scoop Up a Book Ice Cream Celebration is on Thursday! If your child hasn’t turned in their summer reading sheet yet, there’s still time.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and have an amazing weekend!
Go Cougars!
Mike Macken
