Weekly Cadence
March 6, 2024
Here is everything you need to know about the Franklin Central Bands program right now.
Schedule at a Glance
Disney Meeting
We are very excited to announce that Franklin Central Bands will be taking a trip to Walt Disney World in the 2024-2025 school year!! The trip is scheduled to take place in January or 2025. Please mark your calendars for an informational meeting regarding this trip on Wednesday, March 13th beginning at 7:00 PM. A representative from Music Travel Consultants will be with us to present all details of the trip. The meeting will take place in the high school band room. Any individual interested in potentially going on the trip needs to attend this meeting.
Sync the Calendar to your phone!
The easiest way to keep up with schedules is to sync the band calendar to your phone! Add this url https://fcbands.boosterhub.com/ical-stream to your google or outlook calendar.
*If you are experiencing issues with your calendar synching, we recommend to un-sync and re-sync your calendar every once in a while to make sure your calendar is up-to-date.
A NOTE FROM THE BOOSTER PRESIDENT
At next week’s parent meeting (March 13), we will hold the election for the 2024-25 FC Band Boosters Board. Candidates who have expressed their interest in running for a position on the board are included in the document here, along with their statement of interest.
It is not too late to consider running for a board position! You will see that we do not yet have a candidate for Events Coordinator, and you can certainly decide to run for a position where there is already a candidate.
We look forward to another great year for this program!
EVENTS
FC Bands Upcoming Events
Thank you to everyone who volunteered at our WGI event this past weekend. It was a great success and it is because of all of you!
Our final hosted event for the school year is this Saturday! We will be hosting the IHSCGA Regional A State Championships.
Please note that shift times have been adjusted to account for the schedule provided to us by IHSCGA. The setup shift will be from 6-9pm on Friday. An email was sent to all volunteers last Sunday with additional information. Please check the BoosterHub app for your volunteer shifts by clicking the volunteer tab in the app.
We still need a few additional volunteers on Saturday evening to help run the show efficiently. Please use the link below to signup to volunteer for a shift. Click on March 9 on the calendar and click on the volunteer opportunities. https://fcbands.org/calendar/1916#
REMINDER: Marching Band families who did not purchase the buyout option are required by the Financial Agreement to work at least four (4) shifts at our hosted events. Volunteering at other band activities (car wash, chaperone, prop parent, etc) does not count toward this requirement.
Failure to complete all four (4) shifts will result in a charge of $100 for each missed shift (up to a maximum of $400), which will be added to the student’s band account.
Please remember that shifts must be worked by adults age 18 or over, with a current FTCSC background check, as required by the district. Students are not allowed to work these shift requirements, as they will have their own shifts assigned to them by the directors. https://ftcsc.org/safevisitor/ The cost of the background check is $16 and is good for two years.
Volunteers who have expired or no background checks on file with FTCSC have been contacted by Tatia Kortepeter via email.
If you do not have a current background check on file, then we will not be able to let you work your mandatory event shift. This is the policy of Franklin Township. We do not want anyone to incur any extra fees.
Thank you in advance for making these events great! Franklin Central is always given high praise for our events, from our friendly and helpful volunteers to how well each event runs. YOU are a part of that success!

2024 Marching Band Season
Thank you to everyone that attended the MB 2024 parent meeting last week. If you have any questions to please reach out to the directors or our Marching Band Liaison, Heather Long at marchingbandliaison@fcbands.org.
Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 3rd for our Marching Band Registration Night! Be on the lookout for information on how to sign up for a registration window. The registration night will include filling out all necessary forms, having student's fitted for their shoes, uniform, or costume, and make the first payment in addition to any accessories needed for the season. It is incredibly important we attend this registration night if we are planning to participate in marching band.

The vendors are asking for assistance again this year. They're only staffing Race Day currently. There will be other shifts/days made available on a later date. Other groups are being asked to fill positions, so no shift is guaranteed, so act fast.
This is a fantastic and easy way of making money for your students' accounts. *All workers must be at least 16 years old. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C44A5AC2AA1F8C25-47459237-ims2024

A brief reminder as our competition season begins:
Because FCPS performs copyright-protected music, please do NOT share video/audio recordings of the band’s performance on your personal social media. We pay for the right to perform said music in a live performance setting, but not for the right to record and distribute that same performance. You may share any videos you capture on our private Franklin Central Percussion Symphony Friends & Families Facebook Group. You are welcome and encouraged to snap and share your photos on your personal social media, as well as post those photos in the FCPS family's group.

Miles to Dayton Fundraiser Update!
Guard is rallying! To date we have earned 1269.00, but we still have a ways to go!
While this fundraiser has been geared to focus on the groups traveling to Dayton, all fundraising goes to support our General Band Fund and benefits everyone!
Our hope is to have all members of Open and Reg A to get involved. If all students work to raise $120 we will meet our goal.
Here is an easy email template to send to friends and family. Make it a goal to send out at least 5 emails this week! Make sure to give your emails a personal touch, maybe even include a picture!
Miles to Dayton Email Template
Remember, people can donate any amount they want. It doesn't matter if the mile marker number is taken. Our ultimate goal is to raise $5000. Fundraisers like these are what help keep our fees down.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this fundraiser. We need to have all hands on deck to make this happen!!
Show Bands
Students participating in our show bands, Electric Mayhem and Static Havoc can find their rehearsal & performance times are on the choir calendar, fcchoirs.org. For calendar sync instructions click here.
Good Luck and Safe Travels to Electric Mayhem as you travel to Nashville!
Philharmonic Orchestra
Hats off to our Philharmonic Orchestra on an amazing concert, Tuesday, March 5!
*Please note the FCPO is not under FC Band Boosters and therefore Band Booster Credits cannot be applied to FCPO fees.
