Mustang Memo Q3 Week 6
February Newsletter

Message From The Principal
Dear Miller Mustang Parents and Community
Good Evening Mustangs!
We are moving through a fun packed February with Quarter 4 in our sight. Last week we celebrated our Rockstars and Mustangs of the Month, and our basketball team competed against Gale Elementary, Our teachers were busy calling parents to set up parent teacher conferences for this Thursday and Friday.
This week is dedicated to Love of Reading. Miller has amazing guest readers lined up and hopefully a huge turnout for spirit week. I hope I get to see all of our students with a book ready to go each day this week! We also have Peter Piper Pizza night scheduled for WEDNESDAY! Please keep in mind that THURSDAY AND FRIDAY are half days with an 11:30 release time. As we wrap up Quarter 3 we will be keeping our focus on attendance and engaging in learning so that we are ready to show everyone how hard Miller is working.
We hope you have an amazing week!
Warm regards,
Principal

Quarter 3 Focus!
Attendance Matters
Attendance at school from the first bell to the dismissal bell is vital. The first hour of our school day from 8:30-9:30 is pivotal grade-level learning! Throughout our first two weeks in February we averaged 45 tardies each day.coming to school after 8:35. We know it is difficult and we are so excited to see you always. With the extra 15+ minutes each day students would have an additional hour or more learning each week! If you need support in anyway please let us know!
WE HAVE A TARDY ATTENDANCE CHALLENGE COMING SOON!
On February 26th If we have perfect attendance (staff and students) and lower than 10 tardies, students and teachers will have a whip cream war against Ms. Sabel and Mr. Reyes. LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

School Quality Survey
It's time for the Parent School Quality Survey to be sent out to parents via email. The survey will be sent out through SurveyMonkey by A&E with the Title: TUSD Parent School Quality Survey 2025 – we want your feedback!
Please note the following from our district:
- A&E is the sole source to send out the Parent SQS.
- We need a minimum of 30% of your families to complete the survey to meet our goal of ‘10,000 responses’ district wide. (LET'S SHOW THEM HOW MILLER SHOWS UP AND GET 100%)
- Please fill out the survey so that we can receive feedback about our school community. and can plan for next year according to your needs!
The survey was sent on 01/22/2025. Each week there will be an additional reminder to families who have not yet completed the survey until the end of February 2025. As soon as you complete the survey you will stop receiving emails.

Drop off and Dismissal Support
We need your help at Drop off and Dismissal!
Arrival
When dropping off your students in the morning, we have had many parents unload students in front of our school by the front office or cafeteria. This is creating safety problems for our students, staff and families. . We are asking that students stay in the car until they get to the monitor in charge of this area. If you need a speedier drop off, you can also utilize the drop off on Avenida Isabel in front of the gate to our school beginning at 8AM
If you choose to walk your student in, please park in the lot (NOT the side by our coral as this blocks our parent drop off and creates a safety hazard.) and bring your students in. We really appreciate your support in keeping our students safe and making drop off move smoothly.
Dismissal
We appreciate your patience as we implement a new and improved Corral Pickup procedure to make dismissal safer and more efficient for everyone.
At the dismissal bell, a Mustang staff member will unlock the Corral gate, allowing you to walk in and go directly to your student’s designated area. Each grade level will be clearly marked, and the back doors of the corral classrooms will be open for pickup. You must check your student out from the teacher assigned to the room please do not encourage your students to bypass the teacher. You may check out an older sibling and send them to pick up their younger siblings and walk them to you at the corral gate for dismissal.
Please go to your student’s specific grade-level spot:
- 5th Grade – Mr Halls back door facing our roundabout
- Door 1 – 4th Grade
- Door 2 – 2nd Grade
- Door 3 – No Class
- Door 4 – 3rd Grade
- Cafeteria Door – Kinder & 1st Grade
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to improve our dismissal process!
Thank you for your patience and helping our staff and families keep students safe!

Attendance!
One way to see an improvement in our school is Attendance. Miller has an attendance goal this year! We would like to see our campus get to 90% attendance. Did you know that in order to have 90% attendance, your student could still miss up to 18 days of school outside of school holidays and days off? Attendance letters and plans have been sent out to students who are currently at or below. This means that a student with below 70% attendance has attended less than 42 days out of the 60 we have been in school. We understand when students get sick and have to stay home. We would like to ask for your support in encouraging and helping your student(s) understand the importance of being at school everyday. Learning can be hard, but we will help them feel better and understand even though learning is hard, making mistakes and asking questions is how we learn! Together we will RIDE to success and celebrate along the way!
