Tuesday Tidbit
Message From the Principal
January 14th, 2024
Dear Clover Creek Families,
Welcome to 2025! We were so excited to reconnect with all of our students and their families. Our mission remains steadfast: to ensure all of our students achieve both academic excellence and strong social-emotional skills, reaching grade level or higher. We are committed to providing a supportive and nurturing environment where every child can thrive, develop resilience, and build the skills necessary for lifelong success.
For the next few weeks students will be performing STAR assessments. This is a computer generated test that we give five times per year to help us keep a pulse on student performance as it relates to their grade level essential standards. We will celebrate students who earn a level 3 or 4 proficiency and/or have shown high growth, since our September benchmark assessment..
In light of the very cold temperatures, I would also like to remind everyone to ensure students are dressed warmly. Please encourage students to wear a coat to stay protected from the cold weather. If your family needs any assistance obtaining coats please let our Social Worker, Amalea Maxfield, know at amaxfield@bethelsd.org.
We look forward to continuing to partner with you to make this year a positive and impactful experience for all of our students.
Please continue to read on, we have lots of news you can use within this newsletter.

Movement Tips and Resources
Set a Family Routine: Allocate specific times during the day for physical activity, making it a fun and regular part of your family’s daily routine.
Limit Screen Time: Encourage breaks from screens to move around, stretch, or engage in some movement.
Be a Role Model: Children are more likely to be active when they see adults around them leading an active lifestyle.
Dance Parties: Put on some music and dance around the living room.
Backyard Games: Play catch, frisbee, tag, or set up a mini obstacle course.
Indoor Movement: Try out activities like jumping jacks, push-ups, sit-ups, or yoga stretches.
Nature Walks: Take walks around the neighborhood, visit local parks, or go on nature trails.
Balloon Bop: Bop around a balloon and work together cooperatively to keep it in the air as long as possible.
Blow Bubbles: Blow bubbles and see how many and how fast you can pop them!

Student Transfer Requests for 2025-26
First consideration deadline for accepting student transfer requests for the 2025-26
school year will be March 14, 2025 for all grades, K through 12. Requests received
after the deadline may not be considered until the week of August 11. Requests submitted
after August 18 will be reviewed after September 5 when actual enrollment counts are in.
A student transfer request form may be completed and submitted online from the
district’s website beginning January 6, 2025. All transfer requests will be done
electronically.
If the request is submitted by March 14 parents will be notified by April 15 if the
request has been approved or denied. Approval or denial of transfer requests will be
based on established criteria outlined in board policies and procedures 3131 and 3141.
Parents will provide transportation for students who voluntarily attend a school
outside their attendance area. For more information, call Mary Ann Mulloy-White at
253-800-2012 for secondary or Rayna Messer at 253-800-2014 for elementary.
Students who are currently approved for in-district student transfers do not have to
complete a new form unless they are changing from elementary to middle school or
middle school to high school.
Nonresident Transfer Requests are good for one year at a time and must be renewed
annually.
If you intend to renew your student’s nonresident status for the 2025-2026 school year,
please (1) obtain a Choice Transfer/Release of Attendance from your resident district and
(2) complete the Nonresident Transfer Request form which is available online at
bethelsd.org.
Submit both forms online (in most cases, districts use the OSPI Choice Transfer System
for releases)

Library Tidbits
January 14, 2025
This month celebrates: Martin Luther King Jr, winter sports, winter, and Chinese New Year. Students will find these books on display in the library.
K-3rd continue to listen to the Washington Children’s Choice books for our voting in April.
4th continue to learn about Sasquatch, Young Reader’s Choice, and the Towner award as we read the first chapters in the Battle of the Books.
Parents can check their student’s library account or just to see what they are reading. Just go to: Destiny Discover and use your student’s information to log onto their account.
1. Log on to your student’s account using Student Id and Password: first 2 letters of first name-first 2 letters of last name-year of birth! (ja-co-2016!).
2. My Stuff
3. Fines
Please remind students to keep books in a safe place when they are brought home. Reading to your student is a great way to learn language and speaking skills. Please read with your student at least 20 minutes/day. Audio books are a great way to read with your student in the car, just to relax, or when playing in a quiet activity (drawing, lego building, etc…).
Happy reading,
Mrs. Cochran

January meeting Wrap-up
- The PTA was saddened to announce the resignation of our Treasurer. We elected Dana Zenn to serve as Treasurer for the remainder of the school year. Lisa Tucker was also elected to serve as Vice President.
- The PTA would like to thank everyone who participated in our Silent Auction. We were able to support our school’s Giving Tree with the money that came in from the auction.
- The Adrenaline Fundraiser will take place February 19-March 7. The fundraiser will feature a number of products like popcorn and cookie dough. All products will ship directly to the homes of those who support our school through their generous purchases. In addition, our students will earn Spirit-Wear prizes featuring the Clover Creek logo. We are excited to continue to support our students' enrichment activities (like field trips) with the proceeds of this fundraiser.
- The PTA is pleased to partner with Mod Pizza (17513 Canyon Parkway E) on February 3 for a family night out. A portion of the purchases of the families who visit Mod Pizza that day and mention Clover Creek PTA will go to support our student enrichment activities.
- Valentine Grams are going on sale soon. Families will be able to purchase Valentine Grams for the whole class this year and choose between bracelets or Tootsie Pops.
- Pi Night is coming up on March 13. We will be on lookout for volunteers to help us with the fun family night of math.
- We are looking for more volunteers to help bring Birthday Popcorn back online. Let us know if you are interested in helping (clovercreekelempta@gmail.com).

School Board Meeting Recap
Curious what happened at our last School Board Meeting? Check out our School Board Meeting Recap at https://www.bethelsd.org/resources/news.Staff Shout Outs
You probably already know...but we've got some of the best staff in the business here at CCE! Do you ever have an interaction with one of our staff members or hear about an above-and-beyond moment from your child(ren) that made you stop and think "Whoa- I need to remember to let them know how much I appreciate them"? If so- this is a quick way to write a shout-out to a specific staff member. We will make sure it makes it to them! Thank you for your support!!
Calling All Volunteers!
We are excited you are interested in volunteering at Clover Creek Elementary.
All volunteers must complete a volunteer application online prior to volunteering. The approval process can take up to two weeks. Parents who are interested in chaperoning any field trip during the year will require this process be complete prior to the field trip. If you are volunteering in your child’s classroom, we ask that you sign in at the front office in the volunteer book and wear a badge.
● All volunteers must be pre-arranged with the teacher and/or staff member for whom you are volunteering.
🙋🏽 Important Reminders
- Arrival & Dismissal Procedures:
1. Please remember to pull all the way up when in our parent drop-off & pick-up line. Our goal is to fill the entire parent loop before exiting and/or entering children into vehicles.
2. Students should only be entering/exiting the right side of the vehicle onto the sidewalk.
3. Please be patient while families buckle our littlest hawks.
4. All adults and/or non-attending students should stay in their vehicles at all times. This helps us to focus our efforts on our students entering/exiting as quickly and safely as possible.
With all our efforts combined, we will ensure our arrival and dismissal procedures are as effective, efficient and safe as possible. Thank you for your support!
