Thank you to all of our families that participated, attended, and volunteered at our annual Doyle International Festival! It was such a great turnout and such a joy to see our community come together to share their cultures with each other.

Dear Doyle Families,

What an incredible week it has been! Our campus has been full of energy, excitement, and joy as students participated in a whirlwind of hands-on, engaging learning experiences—and we couldn’t have done it without you.

From the inspiring California Living Wax Museum, where students proudly shared the stories of famous figures, to the creative and immersive fun of Colonial Days, and the vibrant celebration of culture at our International Festival—your presence, support, and enthusiasm made each event feel extra special.

Whether you were helping behind the scenes, cheering from the crowd, or simply encouraging your child at home, your involvement helped create meaningful moments that our students will remember for years to come. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community!

As we head into these final days of the school year, we’re looking forward to even more memorable moments: our promotion ceremonies, the heartwarming Senior Walk, and of course, those bittersweet final hugs before summer begins. We appreciate all the ways you’ve partnered with us this year, and we’re so proud of what our students have accomplished—with your love and support every step of the way.

Enjoy the upcoming three-day weekend—you’ve earned it too! Whether it’s a beach day, a backyard BBQ, or just some well-deserved downtime, we hope it's full of laughter and connection.

We will resume class on Tuesday, May 27th - regular schedule with dismissal at 1:45 for UTK and 2:00 for K-5.

We are looking for up to 3 parent volunteers to help our teams with lunch duty on Tuesday, May 27th.

We are down to 41 books still out! Ms. Lisa Smith sent emails to families of students with outstanding books.

Returning your books will allow our librarian to prepare the collection for the next school year. Please encourage your students to return any borrowed books

5th grade promotion is on Thursday, May 29th at 11:15 am on the Doyle Blacktop.

• Front gate will open at 11:00 am.
• Seating is limited and first come-first serve, so arrive early.
• Back gate will not be open for supervision & security reasons.
• Parking is at the Doyle Park & Rec/Street parking only. Please do not park in the staff lot.
• If you have balloons or large celebratory gifts for your student, please stand/sit in the back of the seating area.

Last day of school is May 29th. It is a minimum day with dismissal at 11:45 for UTK and 12:00 for K-5.

We are beyond grateful to see the growth each and every student has experienced this year and are looking forward to seeing everyone back in the Fall!

• All students in Grades UTK-1st should not take Chromebooks home over the summer. They are expected to remain at school.
• All students in grades 2-5 that are staying in the San Diego Unified School District should take their Chromebooks home over the summer and bring it back in August.
• 5th grade students going into middle school should take their Chromebook with them to 6th grade. The middle school will exchange their charger & computer for a new one.
• All students in grades 2-5 that are leaving the San Diego Unified School District should leave the Chromebook and charger with their teacher before leaving.

The Doyle 'We Belong' Family Group has organized a Meet In The Park on Friday, May 30th at Doyle Park from 11:00 - 12:00.

A few dates & links to save to help prepare your students for next year:

• SDUSD 25-26 Academic Calendar - first day of school is Monday, August 11th
• first two weeks for TK & Kinder will be minimum days (dismissal at 11:45 am)
• TK orientation: Friday, August 8th at 9:00 am in the Doyle Auditorium - PTA Sponsored Playdate to follow
• Kinder orientation: Friday, August 8th at 1:00 pm in the Doyle Auditorium - PTA Sponsored Playdate to follow

Attendance is important! We understand there are times when appointments cannot be made outside of school hours. When this happens, please make sure to follow the below steps.

1. Come to the front office with your picture ID
2. Sign the required slip to take your student early
3. The office will call your students classroom and ask them to walk to the office (note: UTK students will be escorted by a staff member)

IMPORTANT NOTE: if you request that your student be in the office waiting when you arrive, we do our very best to have them ready in the office, but please understand that this is not always a possibility. We appreciate your understanding.

Attendance is important! We strongly encourage all vacations and appointments to be scheduled around school days/times. However, we understand...life happens!

If your student is going to be absent, please inform the front office using one of the below methods:

• Doyle Elementary Attendance Reporting form : this can be found on our school website - just scroll down on the homepage and click "Report an Absence"
