Note(s) from the Admin Team
Dear Wredling Parents and Guardians:
Happy Friday! As we navigate the dynamic landscape of adolescence, we find ourselves continually inspired by the growth and development of our middle schoolers. One crucial aspect of this journey is embracing the concept of "The Dignity of Risk." Our goal is to help parents explore the importance of fostering an environment that encourages our students to take smart and safe risks, laying the foundation for their future success.
What is the Dignity of Risk?
"The Dignity of Risk" is a term that emphasizes the importance of allowing individuals, even our young adolescents, the opportunity to take risks in their learning and personal growth. It recognizes that calculated risks are an important part of the learning process and contribute significantly to building resilience, self-confidence, and problem-solving skills.
Why is it Important in Middle School?
Middle school is a critical period for self-discovery and identity formation. Encouraging students to step outside their comfort zones fosters a sense of autonomy and instills the belief that setbacks are not failures but rather opportunities for growth. These experiences shape their ability to make informed decisions and navigate challenges with resilience.
How Can Parents Support Smart and Safe Risks?
Open Communication: Create an open and non-judgmental space for your child to share their thoughts, ideas, and concerns. Knowing they can express themselves without fear of criticism encourages a healthy approach to risk-taking.
Set Realistic Expectations: Help your child set realistic goals and expectations. Discuss the potential outcomes of their choices, emphasizing that setbacks are a natural part of the learning process.
Celebrate Effort, Not Just Results: Encourage a growth mindset by praising your child's effort and perseverance, rather than focusing solely on the end result. This reinforces the idea that the process of learning and taking risks is valuable in itself.
Encourage Extracurricular Activities: Support your child's involvement in extracurricular activities that align with their interests. Whether it's joining a sports team, participating in the school play, or exploring a new hobby, these experiences provide opportunities for growth and risk-taking.
Teach Responsible Decision-Making: Guide your child in making responsible choices by discussing the potential consequences of their actions. This helps them develop a sense of responsibility and accountability.
Embracing "The Dignity of Risk" is a gift we can give our middle schoolers as they navigate the challenges of adolescence. By creating an environment that supports smart and safe risks, we empower our students to become resilient, confident, and independent individuals.
Wishing you and your middle schooler a rewarding and enriching (and smart risk) experience!

Your Child’s Schedule May Change for Quarter Three
We understand that schedule changes can have an impact on students, and we strive to minimize disruptions as much as possible. However, in certain instances, adjustments are necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of our academic environment. These adjustments serve various purposes, including balancing class sizes, accommodating new students joining our school community, moving students in and out of interventions, and addressing behavioral challenges by creating separate schedules. Any schedule changes will be posted in HAC on Monday January 8th. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
Notes From the Main Office
WMS - Fragrance Free
We need your help. We have many individuals with allergies and asthma. As a result, we are asking that students not use perfume or cologne at school. For those with allergies and asthma, these various scents can be a trigger and can cause an attack. When students shower regularly and use deodorant, they should not have a need for cologne or perfume at school. Please have a conversation regarding this topic with your RedHawk(s). Thank you for helping us keep students & staff safe and healthy at Wredling!
RedHawk Pride

The Peer Leadership Program for Incoming St. Charles East Freshmen
Dear Parents of 8th Graders Attending East,
Peer Leadership is an extracurricular program that matches selected incoming freshmen with juniors and seniors who make the transition into high school fun and easy and mentor them throughout the year. Because this program meets during the school day, it has to be put into a student’s schedule when registering for next year’s classes. Although we would like to be able to offer this to all interested incoming freshmen, our numbers are limited by available classroom space and our budget. Therefore, in order to start the selection process, interested students should apply using the application found below.
If your child is interested in the program, please fill out the application and e-mail it to Kelly Pursel, the Peer Leadership Coordinator (Kelly.Pursel@d303.org). Completed applications must be received no later than Monday, January 22nd, 2024. For more information about Peer Leadership, please attend Future Saints Night in January.
We hope to hear from you!
