Why Are Wigmakers Important
Wigs were important because they were fashionable and lots of people bought them. People didn’t even need wigs they just bought them because they were so fashionable. Making wigs was not all wigmakers did. Wigmakers made different styles. They didn’t just make the same kind of wigs. Wigs were for everybody.
Interesting Facts About Wigmakers
Some men had 10 wigs.
Some wigs were very long.
The hedgehog wig was spiked resembling a porcupine.
Wigmakers were also barbers.
Wigs were very expensive.
Wigmakers put powdered perfume on wigs.
When it was windy the powdered perfume blew away.
Wigs were only for fashion.
Wigs were not fashionable after the Revolutionary War.
Bakers also made wigs.
- The most formal wig was white hair with a black ribbon tied around a ponytail.
