ADDRESSING HATE SPEECH IN OUR SCHOOLS🤝
As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a safe learning environment for all students, we want to address a matter of great importance: the continued concern about the use of hate speech by students within our schools.
Unfortunately, instances of hate speech, particularly those with racial undertones, have been reported within our student community. We take this matter very seriously, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that our schools remain spaces where every child feels respected, valued, and free from discrimination.
In response to these concerns, the district and schools are working on initiatives to curb the use of hate speech. We are committed to fostering an environment that promotes empathy, understanding, and unity among our student body.
We recognize the vital role parents and guardians play in shaping the attitudes and behaviors of their children. As partners in education, we encourage you to engage in open and honest conversations with your children about the consequences and impact of hate speech. It is crucial that our students understand the importance of treating everyone with kindness and respect.
Together, we can create an environment that promotes tolerance, acceptance, and inclusivity. We appreciate your support and collaboration in fostering a positive learning experience for all our students.
Thank you for your commitment to the well-being and success of our students.

WHAT'S COOKING IN FOOD SERVICE🥝
More Scratch Cooking Coming Soon!
We are working on adding more scratch & speed scratch items to our menus! This month, beef nachos with scratch made cheese were added to the menus. Primary schools will also see scratch made grilled cheese and mac & cheese over the next few weeks. Secondaries have meatball sub sandwiches made with a fresh baked roll! We are also adding on a strawberry chocolate roll to replace sunbutters. We have a few more items planned for this year including a Bahn Mi bowl, wings, pancakes, and parfaits! These items should hit the menu in April/May.
GIVE YOUR INPUT!
Want to see different items on the menu? Do you want more from your food service program?
We are excited to send out what we hope to be an annual survey for parents, students and staff to provide feedback on our WPUSD Food Service Program! We would love to hear your feedback as we plan for the 2024-2025 menus. The survey will be open from February 2nd - February 16th! You can complete this short survey HERE

🚨Update Your Emergency Contact Information
🏡Complete the Household Income Form
ANNUAL EMERGENCY CONTACT UPDATE/VERIFICATION🚨
Review/Update Your Emergency Contact Information 2023-2024
At the end of last school year, your child's school sent out notifications to update/verify your emergency contact information using your PowerSchool Parent Portal. As a reminder, this needs to be completed by every returning family. Families who recently registered their child for school (new to WPUSD) do NOT need to complete this process.
For instructions on how to access your PowerSchool Parent Portal account click HERE.
COMPLETE THE HOUSEHOLD INCOME FORM🏠
Please Complete a 2023-24 Household Income Form to Help Your School Maximize Its Funding!
DID YOU KNOW?
A portion of every school's funding is determined by the needs of its students. Extra funding is usually distributed to schools based on submitted free/reduced meal applications but this year the state is providing schools with the option of using the Household Income Form. This form can easily be completed online and will provide your school with extra funding. Please note that for the 2023-2024 school year all students are eligible for FREE meals, so extra funding will be distributed differently and the Household Income Form is the best source to increase your school’s funding.
WHY FILL OUT THE FORM?
- additional support staff for schools, like Instructional Aides, Intervention Support Providers, and after school tutors
- more resources for classrooms and teachers
- additional health and wellness services
- fee waivers for college applications
- fee waivers for college admissions exams (i.e. SAT/ACT/AP)
It’s a quick process and only needs to be completed once for each household. By taking the time to fill out this form, you are taking part in a process that might provide thousands of dollars in funds to the school your student attends. You can also access this form when you are updating your Emergency Contact Information and Waiver Forms in your Parent Portal account.
If you need assistance in completing this form please contact your child's school office or the District Office (916) 645-6350 and we can help!
