October Newsletter
Carver Elementary School October Newsletter
Dear Carver Families,
We are off to a fantastic start to the school year, and I want to thank you for your support in making sure your children come to school each day prepared and ready to learn. As we move forward, I encourage you to continue reinforcing the importance of attendance and preparation to help your child succeed.
Diagnostic Testing Updates
We have completed our mClass Beginning-of-Year (BOY) diagnostic and iReady BOY diagnostic in both reading and math. You should have received the mClass Home Connect letter with your child’s first-quarter progress report. The iReady reading and math reports will be coming home soon. These reports provide valuable insights into your child's progress so far this year and what you can do at home to help them excel.
Upcoming October Testing Dates
Please mark your calendars for the following important dates:
- RtA Test (4th Grade): October 23
- RtA Retest (4th Grade): October 24
- NC Check-Ins:
- Science (5th Grade): October 28
- Reading (3rd-5th Grades): October 29
- Math (3rd-5th Grades): October 30
- Make-up Testing: October 31
It is crucial that your child is present and on time for these testing dates. Ensuring they have a good night's rest and a nutritious breakfast will also help them perform at their best.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting your child’s education. Together, we will make this a successful year for all our students!

K-12 Math Standards Surveys
Per the NC State Board of Education's Manual for the Review and Revision of Standards, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction's K-12 Math Standards team is seeking feedback and input on the current standards from all stakeholders including educators, administrators, parents, students, institutions of higher education, business/industry representatives from across the state, national organizations and other education agencies. Updates to the current K-12 Math Standards may include clarifications, additions, deletions or replacements to the current standards.
K-12 Math Overview Survey for All-Stakeholders - Overview of the K-12 Math standards asking general questions about the standards as
a whole. In addition, this survey includes a question seeking input on what math skills and concepts every NC graduate should know.
K-12 Math Standard-by-Standard Survey for All-Stakeholders - More detailed survey, allowing participants to provide specific feedback on each standard for every grade or course.
Both surveys will remain open until 8 a.m. on October 21.
