FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Edison Families,
What an unforgettable experience we had at Edison last Friday night! The energy was electric as students and adults alike danced to the music, filling the night with laughter and joy. The rhythm of the music brought everyone together as we boogied under the neon lights, creating memories that will last a lifetime!
Over at La Placita, the fun continued. Kids worked together to build block towers higher than themselves—some of the creations were towering masterpieces! And in the library, children and adults alike eagerly engaged in the traditional game of Lotería for the chance to win one of the incredible gift baskets our classrooms put together.
In the arts and crafts room, creativity was flowing as students designed one-of-a-kind projects, while former Edison students lent a hand to guide our younger ones, making sure they stayed safe and had fun. The 5th-grade parents were on a roll, serving up the most delicious elote and tacos, keeping everyone fueled for more excitement. Meanwhile, the photo booth was filled with silly faces as friends captured the night’s fun!
A HUGE thank you to Irene Guerrero and all the amazing parent volunteers who made this night possible. Irene’s leadership, along with the tireless efforts of our volunteers, was truly the heart of the event. It's heartwarming to see so many parents—both seasoned veterans and newcomers—coming together to make Edison a wonderful place for all. While some of our longtime volunteers will be moving on this year, we’re excited to see the new generation of parents ready to keep the tradition alive. We’re so grateful for each and every one of you!
Also a BIG THANK YOU to our teachers who helped engage our students all month in the Kindness and Justice Challenge, culminating in paper chains noting all of the Kind and Just acts they performed and a poster with their promise of Kindness and Justice for the upcoming year. These student made decorations that graced the cafeteria are a testament to the character of our students and the learning that is taking place. Our students were so proud of their work!
If you missed the event, don’t worry—there’s still so much more to look forward to! Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming up:
- Jog-a-thon (our biggest fundraiser of the year!) - March 21
- Noche de Cesar Chavez (a tribute to this incredible civil rights leader with 1st/2nd singing and a play by Maestra Cachú-Rios class) - March 28
- Career Day (a chance for bilingual professionals to share how they use both languages in their careers) - April 3
- Multicultural Festival (a brand-new event where every family can share their culture and traditions with the whole community) - May 16
We can’t wait to keep dancing, building, learning, and celebrating with all of you as we continue making memories together!
Warmly,
Directora Ipiña

ATTENDANCE REMINDERS
WEDNESDAY PARENT MEETINGS - NO MEETING THIS WEEK
This week was scheduled to be a Coffee with the Principal and Experts, but Directora Ipiña must attend a district meeting, so there will be no parent meeting this Wednesday.
DISMISSAL SAFETY
We care deeply about the safety of all of our students. Unfortunately, some unsafe situations are occurring during dismissal.
STUDENT PICK UP: Teachers are responsible for ensuring that students arrive safely to their afterschool destination. Some parents are waving from across the street or far away for their child to come to them causing students to run across the street or leave without the teacher noticing. We will no longer release children to run to their parents from far away. Parents must come within 10 feet of the teacher and ensure they get the teacher's attention when picking up their child.
DOUBLE PARKING: Some parents are double or triple parking when picking up their child. This is very inconsiderate and creates a gridlock so no one can get by. If this continues, parking enforcement will begin giving tickets. Do not double or triple park when picking up your child.
SOLUTIONS: Both of these situations can be avoided by either arriving early to get parking near school or by parking at Virginia Park and walking over. We understand that this is not convenient, but we hope that you value student safety as much as we do and will partner with us keep our students safe!
BILINGUAL CAREER DAY - APRIL 3 - LOOKNG FOR PARTICIPANTS
We are looking for parents or community members to participate in our very first Career Day. We are looking for individuals who are bilingual and use their two languages in their work. Let's give those bags a second life! 🌟
Congratulations Maestra Murcia
We are absolutely delighted to share that Maestra Murcia has been named Teacher of the Month by radio station 99.5 KKLA! 🎉 This recognition is a testament to her unwavering dedication and exceptional work. Not only did she receive a well-deserved award and a gift certificate, but she also had the chance to share her passion on air during a radio interview. Throughout the interview, Maestra Murcia spoke about her deep commitment to bilingual education, her enthusiasm for teaching math, and her belief in the importance of guiding students through productive struggle. Her tireless efforts to inspire and empower her students exemplify the type of educators we have here at Edison. Congratulations, Maestra, and thank you for all you do! 🌟👏
