Principal Ponderings
It is difficult to believe that this will be my last message for the 23-24 school year. I am extremely proud of the work we have done together to make White Oak a place we LOVE to be. This year we have focused on five critical areas from Our Blueprint for the Future in order to help each and every student reach their full potential. Together we have succeeded in each of these areas. We could not have done it without your support and partnership.
Also, White Oak was spotlighted in the Gwinnett Daily Post for our Unity Ranch Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Check out the link here that includes a fabulous article and many beautiful pictures.
It was a pleasure to see a number of you Walking to School and at the Lanier High School Spring Football game. I am hoping to see many more of you at class parties this week. Remember that due to our security measures, only guests who are listed as parents and emergency contacts will be able to attend class parties. If you need to add someone to your student's emergency contact list, please email Kathleen.McGrath@gcpsk12.org
Have a safe and happy summer! Enjoy some great books, family time, and hurry back to us.
In Partnership and Service,
Stacey Pickett
End of Year Reminders
GCPS Chromebooks
GCPS Chromebooks
The last day for White Oak students to take home GCPS Chromebooks was Friday, 5/17. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 are responsible for returning their GCPS issued Chromebook, charging cord and block, and their Chromebook bag. Thank you for following up with your child to help us with this end of year process. If you have any questions or need more information, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher.Student Medications in the White Oak Clinic
If your child has any medication in the clinic, please stop by the school on or before May 22nd to pick up the medication. Students are not allowed to transport medication. Any medication that is not picked up will be disposed of after that date. Any questions, please email Jill Owen at jill.owen@gcpsk12.org. Thanks!
Return Books to the Media Center
At White Oak Elementary, we currently have 163 lost books that need to be found and returned. Let's do some Library Math!
Each Library Bound copy costs approximately $15. With 163 lost books, we would need $2,445 to replace them all. Imagine if we could use that money to buy new and exciting book titles for our library instead of replacing the lost ones. Let's work together to find and return these lost books so we can expand our library with new adventures waiting to be discovered!
