West Side Family Newsletter
January 2022
Hello West Side Families,
I hope January's newsletter finds you healthy and full of goodness from the holidays. You are a most important part of our West Side family and we greatly appreciate our partnership in your child's education. Please reach out if there's anything we can do to help your child.
Beginning January 3rd, CCS's Safe Learning Plan (below) has been amended. Here are the noted changes:
If your child tests positive:
- Students who test positive for COVID-19 will isolate at home for 5 days. If no symptoms exist, or if symptoms are resolved and no fever reducing medication is needed for 24 hours, students/staff may return to school and must wear a mask properly for 5 more days.
If your child is determined to be a close contact:
- Fully vaccinated close contacts may return to school provided they remain asymptomatic, and must wear a mask for 10 days after the last day of exposure, with a test on day 5 if possible. Proof of vaccination is required.
- NOTE: Fully vaccinated means a student has completed the two shot series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months, OR has been boosted, OR, completed the primary series of Johnson and Johnson within the last 2 months.
- Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated close contacts must stay home for 5 days after the last day of exposure to the positive case. They may return to school on day 6 if asymptomatic, properly wear a mask at all times in the classroom for at least 5 days, with a test on day 5 if possible.
- NOTE: Partially vaccinated means a student has completed two shot series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine over 6 months ago and are not boosted, OR completed the primary series of Johnson and Johnson vaccine over 2 months ago and are not boosted.
If symptoms develop, please keep your child home and get tested. If positive, follow positive test results guidance above. If the test is negative, return to school when symptoms have resolved and your child has been fever free without fever-reducing medication for at least 24 hours.
Lastly, please continue to screen your child daily for symptoms such as a sore throat, cough, loss of taste/smell, etc. If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home and get them tested.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Brock
