Northland Vikings
August 28, 2023 - September 8, 2023
Welcome Back/Hello New Vikings!
We welcome our returning Viking students/families, and welcome new Viking students/families! I am Ms. Linda K. Jackson, Family Ambassador, and will be sending out a newsletter twice a month. I am at Northland on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7:15 a.m. - 2:45 p.m., and Thursdays from 7:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. I can also be reached at (614) 653-8155. The Family Ambassador is a liaison between the families and Northland High School; being FAMILY-focused; here to support our Northland High School families. I will be reaching out to you, to find out how your experiences have been with Northland High School, and if I can be of any assistance with information to help maintain/improve your family situations(s)/environment(s).
Student Attendance is VERY Important!
If your Viking student is going to be absent, for any reason, please call Ms. Baylis or Ms. Washington at (614) 365-5340. This includes absence for a few hours, half day of school, or all day. Thank you!
Unity With Community!
Northland High School is located in the Northland neighborhood. There is a difference between a neighborhood, and a community. Northland High School is a community, because we all have something in common: Northland Viking students! A community also can be more powerful than a neighborhood, because of its unity (focus/interest/commitment to Northland High School students). There will be a Unity With Community continental breakfast on Thursday, September 28th, at Northland High School; 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. Guest speaker will be Devin Deal, Neighborhood Liasion with the Columbus City Neighborhood Program. Please come in for coffee and muffins, and hear what's available for our Northland High School community!
Charity Newsies
Charity Newsies provides new clothing for school students of all ages, in Franklin County, free of charge. They can also provide shoes, winter coats and vouchers for school uniforms. For more information, and to apply, go to charitynewsies.org

Open House!!!!!
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for our Open House. During our Open House, you will have a chance to meet members of our staff, tour the campus, and learn how to best partner with us to support your students. I look forward to seeing you there!
What is PBIS?
PBIS is Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports. It is used to reward positive behavior, and is not bribery. Northland High School started using PBIS last school year, and found it to very useful. Students are engaged with its practice, and their opinions are considered. For more information, contact Ms. Tekiesha Goolsby, here at Northland High School. Her email address is: tgoolsby@columbus.k12.oh.us
We Have Interpreters!!!!!!!
Northland High School has access to interpreters who provide sign language; speak Arabic, French, Nepali, Somali Kinyarwar, Somali Mai, and Spanish. If you are going to be meeting with a teacher, counselor, or other staffperson, and need any interpreting services, please tell Ms. Jackson, the Family Ambassador, as soon as possible, and she can request an interpreter for you.
