Message From the Principal
Dear BW Families,
It’s hard to believe that around this time last year, school buildings across our region and country began shutting down as we worked to figure out how to navigate Covid. It’s amazing how far we have come in this last year but most of all, it’s been incredible to watch our young people navigate the pandemic. There are a lot of emotions connected to the pandemic and many of us have been through some difficult situations and loss. Through it all, I’m encouraged by our kids. Through the ups and downs, it’s the deep wisdom and joy of our kids that provide the hope that we will be okay. It will not be easy but we will be okay.
I hope you are all able to find joy and rest during our Spring Break as we recharge and reconnect with each other. Be safe, be well and we will “see” you in the virtual world on March 29th when ALL of us return to Virtual Learning.
With gratitude,
Grace

We are fortunate that our staff has been offered the opportunity to receive the vaccine on Thursday. Our schedule for school will shift slightly this week to the following:
· Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: In Person Learning and Virtual Learning
· Thursday and Friday: Asynchronous Learning for ALL students (virtual and in-person)
Please note that Wednesday is regularly an asynchronous day but due to the vaccination day for staff it will be a regular school day with both in person and virtual this week.
Course Selections for 2021-2022 School Year
Last week, counselors began meeting with students to talk about elective course selections for next year (2021-2022). Course selection forms are due back on Wednesday, March 17th to your child’s Science Teacher. Virtual learners will have an electronic form shared. To help navigate all of the great elective choices, here is a website with short videos from the teachers describing their classes, https://scetro.wixsite.com/bw-electives .
Course catalogs for each grade and the course selection forms are below.
Spring Break and Virtual Week
Spring Break begins on Monday, March 22nd and continues until Friday, March 26th. ALL students will return to VIRTUAL learning Monday, March 29th through April 2nd. In person students will return to the building on Monday, April 5th. Again, there will be NO IN PERSON LEARNING from March 29th-April 2nd and ALL STUDENTS WILL BE VIRTUAL. In person students will return to school on Monday, April 5th.
Student Pictures
This year, picture day was a little different than years past. We invited a local photographer in to capture our students a few weeks ago. Once our photographer is done editing the photos, a digital copy will be emailed to all families. The school picture is a gift from our BW family to yours! We will let you know when the digital photo file will be emailed so you can be on the lookout for it.
Note from the Nurse
Attention Parent/Guardians,
If your student typically has Spring allergy symptoms: coughing, runny nose, watery/red/itchy eyes, scratchy throat, etc now is the time to consider restarting their daily medication for seasonal allergies. Spring allergies can also trigger asthma symptoms. Please contact the nurse if you would like to keep an inhaler at school as needed. The School District of University City does not supply allergy or asthma medication; your student may need to go home if necessary during the school day with Covid considerations.
