A Note From Our Principals
I want to say thank you to our parents and guardians who are picking up their scholars after school.
As the school year started, we discovered a huge traffic problem. The volume of parents and guardians far exceeded the space we had available. We had cars backed up onto US 36. By the end of the first week, Chief Oliphant had devised a new plan to double-stack cars through the faculty parking lot.
Immediately the problem was solved. Then last week, we forgot to put out the traffic cones guiding the parents to turn left and start lining up two by two. And the best part of this absent-minded issue is that drivers knew to double-stack without the cones.
It was fantastic to see and I cannot thank you enough for sticking with the plan.

Principal
This week, I wanted to emphasize the importance of student attendance and how crucial it is for students to be in the classroom. Over the past few weeks, I’ve discussed the initiatives we’ve implemented to maximize classroom time for our students. To put things in perspective, missing just ten minutes of class per day adds up to roughly 1.5 weeks of missed school over a year. If a student misses 30 minutes a day, this can result in about four weeks of missed school annually and over 1.5 years of lost education over the span of their academic career. Even occasional absences or brief periods of missed class can quickly accumulate, negatively impacting a child’s academic success. This is why we are placing a greater focus on ensuring students attend school every day. The state of Indiana has defined chronic absenteeism as falling below a 95% attendance rate, which equates to missing fewer than 10 days of school per year. Students who fall below this rate are at a significantly higher risk of underperforming academically. You can find our attendance policy at the front of the student handbook, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Mr. Kyle Owens
Assistant Principal

Morning Drop Off Reminder
DCHS doors open at 8:15 AM for students to enter the building. If a student arrives prior to that, they will have to wait outside. Our vestibule is getting too crowded in the mornings, and it's making it difficult for staff to get through. Also, please do not drop off students before 7:30 AM as we do not have staff available to monitor them.
We appreciate your help with this!
Class & Mob T-Shirts Have Arrived!
We have received the class and Mob t-shirts and will be passing them out during lunches on Monday, Sept. 16th and Tuesday, Sept. 17th. If your student does not have a lunch, their order will be available for pick-up in the front office.
Prom Fundraiser Tonight
Help support Prom by "taking your shot" at the dunk tank! See if you can knock down Mr. Meling, Dr. Hamann, Mrs. Jackson, or Mr. Owens during the varsity football game.
Picture Retakes
Underclassmen (Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors) retakes and club pictures will be taken on Monday, September 16th during the school day. Order forms are available in the front office.
Senior pictures will be on Friday, October 11th. Passes will be distributed to students who still need to have them taken. Order information will be sent out close to the date.

If your student needs to be released early, please contact the office early in the day to avoid classroom interruptions and to make sure your student is released in a timely manner. Thank you!
Athletic Department
DCHS Warriors All-Sports Passes are back! Passes can be purchased at any time at https://danvilleathletics.com/Tickets. Senior citizens, who are also Danville residents, are eligible for a free, lifetime Silver Pass. Interested individuals must stop by the DCSC administration office, in person, to obtain this pass.
Please contact the Athletic Department at 317-745-3929 with further questions.
Every student participating in a 2024-25 sport needs an updated physical dated on or after April 1, 2024 on file in Final Forms.
Bell & Lunch Schedule
Students can enter the building at 8:15 AM and may congregate in the cafeteria and commons areas until 8:25 AM when they are permitted to go to their classrooms. If you drop off your student prior to 8:15 AM, they will have to wait outside.
Chromebooks
As a reminder, student Chromebooks have a protection policy against accidental damage. This policy requires that the case must remain on the Chromebook at all times. Damage that takes place without the case could be subject to a repair fee.
Returning students can have Chromebook issues addressed before school or Monday through Thursday during their lunch. See Mrs. McQuinn in the Student Support Center (adjacent to the cafeteria).
Food Delivery Policy
As a reminder, students are prohibited from receiving food deliveries from restaurants or third-party vendors during the academic day. Parents are still allowed to drop off lunch for their children. Any food delivered prior to the end of the school day from a third party will not be accessible to the student. For after-school events, students can have food items delivered, but these must be placed on a cart on the exterior of the building. This cart will be accessible from the main office only after the academic day concludes. This policy is established to maintain the safety and security of the school environment. We appreciate your cooperation.
From the Clinic
All students should have up-to-date vaccinations. If your child's vaccinations are not current, please contact your primary care physician or the Hendricks County Health Department to schedule an appointment.
Please make sure you have updated your student's information in SchoolCare: https://www.schoolcare.com/parents/digitalHealthPlatform
If your student has a major health condition that will need to be managed at school by the clinic please have your provider fill out the appropriate paperwork. The provider can also provide an action/care plan that they utilize in their practice to replace the attached form. The clinic must have an updated plan at the start of each school year.
Parking Permit
Once students register, they can bring their payment to the front office and pick up their pass at the same time.
One thing to note....if your student already has a parking pass, they do not need to register/pay for another pass this year. The pass they received last year is good until they graduate. If your student has misplaced their pass, they will need to stop in the main office to get a replacement. There is a $10 charge to replace a pass.
If your student is driving a different vehicle this year and already has a parking permit, they will need to stop in the front office to update that information.
School Pictures - IDs - Yearbooks
School Pictures - Underclassmen retakes will be September 16th and senior retakes will be October 11th.
ID Cards & Lanyards - All students are required to have a current ID card. Please stop by the main office if you were not at WWD. Effective this year, students and staff are required to wear their school issued lanyards & ID cards during the school day.
Yearbooks - Yearbooks can be purchased for $65 by clicking on the adjacent QR code.
