January 2025
Principal Message
Hello Minimaker Families,
As we begin 2025, I wish each of our Minimaker families a healthy and joyful year—filled with frequent family time. This is the time where we reflect on the previous year and make adjustments for the new year. At the 4K Center for Literacy, our teachers are doing the same thing to give our students what they need when they need it.
Second semester starts the week of January 27th. You will be receiving your child’s progress report this month. This an exciting time to recognize your child’s learning. It is a good time to encourage your child to persevere: “Yes, you can do hard things!” It is also a suitable time to share your thoughts about your child’s learning with your child’s teacher. We are here to listen, acknowledge, and work with you towards you child’s success as a student and citizen.
Our progress reports provide us with data on what our students can do and cannot do yet. At the start of Semester 2, our teachers will be providing additional learning opportunities for our students who need a little more practice. Small group work will take place throughout the week. Please connect with your child’s teacher if you want to know more about this opportunity.
In this newsletter you will find information about our family reading logs for February. Our students love to read their books at school--really, really love to read their books. We want to encourage our families, as best as they can, to include family reading time outside of school. Our students have such a large appetite for reading. Let’s keep ‘feeding’ them and watch them grow.
Our students can do AMAZING things!
Thank you.
Hercules Nikolaou, Ph.D.

Dress for the Weather!
With the weather getting colder, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately to go outside. If there’s snow on the ground, students must wear boots and snowpants to play on the playground equipment or any other snow-covered area during recess. Students will go outside on their designated day(s) unless the temperature or wind chill is below 0 degrees.
