ACADEMY ADVENTURES MIDTOWN
BUILDING ON STRENGTHS & FILLING BUCKETS!
šA Note From Mrs. Angelaš
We have reached the end of another school year. Each year the school year seems to go faster and faster and this year was no exception. It feels like we just started yesterday! It is a bitter sweet time for me. I am very excited to see the growth and progress the students have made throughout the year and sad to see some of our students moving on to middle school or other schools closer to their homes.
There are so many things that standout this year. The amount of participation we have had for the Family Events throughout the school year has been the highest ever! I am so thankful for all of our wonderful and supportive families. I hope you enjoyed the events as much as we enjoyed putting them on! Next year we will continue with many of the traditions and start some new ones! This year, we had so many families who were very generous by making donations of money and supplies for varies activities throughout the school year. Seeing the academic growth and progress in all of the students was amazing! There is nothing more gratifying than watching each of these little individuals grow into confident, bucket filling learners! I cannot tell you how many times we have had compliments from people visiting the school on how well behaved, respectful and polite our students are! This has definitely been one of our best years.
The best highlight of the year was on May 13, 2024, when Mr. Jack and myself went up to Phoenix to attend the monthly Arizona State Board for Charter Schools Board Meeting. At this meeting, Mr. Jack had the opportunity to speak with the Board and tell them what a great school we have. The BEST part of this meeting...the Board voted unanimously to renew our Charter for another 20 years with no contingencies! This is a huge accomplishment. Academy Adventures Midtown will be around for a long time to come serving all the students in our area who often get lost in the bigger schools! We are so excited about the possibilities, growing our school, starting new traditions & continuing old traditions and continuing to build a school where students love to learn, feel safe, feel heard, have the ability to be kids and become confident learners by building on their individual strengths.
We are already planning for next school year. I am in the process of finishing up our calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. If you have any suggestions or input, please reach out to me. Your input is always welcome. We hope to have it posted in the next few weeks. We will also be scheduling our Summer Back to School Registration Fair for mid-July. Summer Enrichment Program begins on June 10th! It is a great time for your child to continue to build on their strengths and bridge their learning gaps. It is free to all students entering grades K-5.
Thank you to our families, Board members and community for your continued support of Academy Adventures Midtown!
The end of the school year is always a lot of fun! It is a great time to celebrate all the hard work of our students and have a little fun! We had Water Day, Movie Day, 5th Grade Celebration Lunch, WonkaPalooza and 5th Grade Speeches. Check out pictures from the last week of school!
SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM!
Our Summer Enrichment Program begins on Monday, June 10, 2024! The hours will be the same as school:
- 7:30-7:55 Breakfast
- 8:00-3:00 Summer Enrichment Program
- 3:00-5:00 After School Program
Summer Enrichment Program is not mandatory but highly recommended to help your child continue to building on their strengths. The program will be project based with the addition of small group and individual instruction. We will be setting goals for each child and have built in assessments. This program will help your child be prepared for the 2024-2025 school year.
In coming Kindergarten students may stay the full day if the parent feels they are ready. If we see that that is an issue, we will discuss other options with the parent. If a parent is not ready for their Kindergartner to stay the whole day, please speak with Mrs. Angela or Ms. Lia to make arrangements to pick them up earlier. We are happy to work with you!
As a reminder, students will need to be in uniform. This is not a "day care" and students registered are expected to be here daily, ready to participate. Behavior expectations will be high. If your child will be out, please make sure to call and let the school know or send a Class Dojo to Mrs. Angela.
We look forward to seeing the students on Monday, June 10th! Enjoy the few weeks off before Summer Enrichment Program begins!
HELP US BUILD OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY!
Now that we have another 20 years to build on student strengths, it is a great time to begin increasing our enrollment! We could use your help! Please share information about our school with friends and family who have children entering grades K-5 and let them know what a great school we are! Building the school enrollment through recommendations is the best way. You can also do a review on Google. We do offer enrollment incentives!
We have gotten several inquiries and new enrollments for the 2024-2025 school year. There are still openings in all grade levels (K-5). Our goal is to enroll at least 20 more students before school starts! Help us build our school community and culture!
Any questions on registration for the 2024-2025 school year, please contact Mrs. Angela.
END OF YEAR WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY PLAY
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Thank you to all the families who joined us for the end of year "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" play on May 17th! We had an amazing turnout. The students were so excited to have so many of their family members here to support them.
The students did an amazing job! We had several very last minute substitutions in the play due to absences and the students stepped up and did an EXCELLENT job! We are so proud of them! Thank you Ms. Emily for the incredible job you did in getting the students prepared for the play! It was definitely our best yet!
We will have pictures and video up soon! Watch Class Dojo for links.
SUMMER COMMUNICATION
Please make sure that you have notifications enabled on your Class Dojo app. This is the primary way to communicate with you at a school level. We will continue to use Class Dojo over the summer to communicate with families. Please make sure if your children are returning in the Fall that you continue to keep your notifications turned on. We will be sending out notices on the Summer Events and Registration and we don't want you to miss out.
If you have any issues with Class Dojo, please contact the school. Please note, you are NOT required to pay for Class Dojo. We only use the free portion. The paid version is optional and not required.
We continue to be diligent by sanitizing frequently touched areas throughout the day. Children are reminded regularly to wash their hands before and after meals and being outside. The school is deep cleaned in the evenings with wiping down all frequently touched areas including desks, tables, doors, door knobs, chairs, etc. Health and safety continues to be a high priority.
As a reminder if your child is sick, please keep them home for 48 hours after their last symptoms, without medication.
We appreciate your cooperation and help in keeping everyone healthy!
Academy Adventures Midtown is passionate about supporting academic and emotional growth in each child. Cloud9 World provides many skills to help our students deal with every day situations occurring in their lives at school or at home.
People who exhibit excellence rise above mediocrity to make a difference.
We will continue to use Cloud9 this summer and the upcoming school year. It has made a huge difference in the school climate and culture and we want to continue to make this a school where the children feel safe, heard and confident.
As we wrap up on of the most amazing school year, all I can think about is a short poem from one of my all time favorite books, Where the Sidewalk Ends; āListen to the MUSTNāTS, child, Listen to the DONāTS Listen to the SHOULDNāTS The IMPOSSIBLES, the WONTāS Listen to the NEVER HAVES Then listen close to meā Anything can happen, child, ANYTHING can be.ā
As a teacher, teaching a curriculum is one thing, though teaching students to fall in love with learning is magical. Each student in Early Elementary has grown tremendously from the first day of school. Each student has inspired me in one way or another. Watching their minds work is a true blessing.
My hopes for the students at Academy Adventures Midtown would be to be children, explore the outside, fall in love with reading and attend our Summer School Program. Our Summer School Program will be a hands-on, exploratory, individualized learning experience that will assist students in building on their strengths.
I want to thank each student, each parent and guardian, teachers and staff at Academy Adventures Midtown. Knowing that it takes a village for children is one thing, but experiencing and being part of that village for our students is powerful. Thank you all for your continued support for Academy Adventures Midtown.
It is officially the end of the school year, yet it feels as though we just started yesterday! Looking back at all of our events and activities we did this year, it amazes me how fast it went by. I have felt so much pride and joy while reflecting on these students' progress over the past 10 months. They have made so many improvements, whether it be in math, ELA, Science or Social Studies. Seeing how much they have built on their strengths and adapted to the new routines and schedule of this year has been truly amazing. I am incredibly proud of each and every one of them and am so happy to see how far they have come.
I have been blessed with a new journey in my life and will be taking on the role of being a stay at home mom. With that, it breaks my heart knowing that I will be staying home and not getting the chance to see your beautiful and amazing children at school every day. These students bring me so much joy and make my heart so happy. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity of working here at Academy Adventures Midtown and with this amazing group of students.
To my exquisite Fifth graders, I am sad to see you leave, but I know you have so much more learning and growing to do in middle school and for the rest of your future. For my fun and lovely Third and Fourth graders, I hope you will continue to blossom into the beautifully unique individuals that you are, never change who you are and remember to keep learning and flourishing. It has been such an honor to have you all in my class the past three years and I have loved seeing you all grow into the wonderful, young people you are today. I hope you all have a fun and safe summer break and will hopefully get to see some of you again during our Summer Enrichment Camp!
LEARNING IS FUN AT ACADEMY ADVENTURES MIDTOWN!
Academy Adventures Midtown has the GREATEST students! Check out the pictures below. One of the benefits of a small school is that it allows all students in all grades to work together. Learning does not have to be sitting behind a desk working out of a book and/or being lectured by the teacher. Our teachers strive (and succeed!) to make learning fun and interactive for our students. Allowing the Upper Elementary students to work with the Early Elementary students allows collaboration, teaching, and builds supportive relationships.
SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM --> MONDAY JUNE 10-FRIDAY, JULY 12, 2024
We are excited for Summer Enrichment Camp! If you did not sign up but are interested or know someone who is, please contact the school for registration information.
SCHOOL CLOSED - NO SUMMER SCHOOL --> JULY 4 & 5, 2024
Summer Enrichment Program will be closed on July 4th & 5th in observance of 4th of July!
