Happy Friday Slater Families!
Our first Marking Period is coming to an end on November 1st (the time has blown by!). Please see the information below on grades and eligibility.
We are excited to prepare for our Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences (Nov. 7th and 8th). You should be receiving emails at the beginning of next week (see the information below). Feel free to contact the school if you are having any issues accessing your child's grades through PowerSchool.

🚨Marking Period One and Eligibility
Our first Marking Period is coming to an end on Friday, November 1st! Teachers will have grades finalized on November 6th and we will begin preparing to send report cards home (this usually takes about 2 days). We will be determining eligibility on November 6th. We will be sending an email and robocall to families if their student is ineligible.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need help accessing grades through PowerSchool
👪 Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences are being held the evening of November 7th, and the afternoon of November 8th. We will be sending online signups through a program called SignUp Genius. These will be coming to families via email on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
Please feel free to call the school if you have not received the emails by the end of the day Tuesday, or if you need assistance using the signup program.

VSAC's Annual Financial Aid Trainings for Education and Agency Professionals
Register today for this year's Financial Aid Updates sessions to learn about the many changes and new norms for the 2024-25 financial aid cycle. Both events will take place via Zoom starting at 9:00am.
Registration is still open for the Financial Aid 101 session taking place!

Vermont Career Connect
Wednesday, November 20, 10-11:15am, Virtual: 7th and 8th grade classes across the state are invited to attend this virtual career panel featuring an intro to career exploration and a facilitated Q&A with panelists from our partners at Careers CLiC. Registration opens in mid-October.
College & Career Pathways High School Events
College and career readiness workshops targeted to 10th and 11th graders (and open to 9th and 12th graders). All high schools in the state of Vermont are invited to bring students. Registration opens in early December, and some locations reach capacity quickly!

- Landmark College: Thursday, March 13, 9:15am-1:45pm
- Saint Michael’s College: Thursday, March 20, 9:15am-1:45pm
- VTSU-Lyndon: Monday, April 7, 9am-1:30pm in partnership with the NEK College Fair
- VTSU-Castleton: Wednesday, April 9, 9am-1:45pm in partnership with the Rutland Area Guidance Counselors’ College Fair
Tentatively Saturday, March 8, 2025, 1pm-5pm @ UVM Davis Center and online via Zoom
9th-12th grade families are invited to participate in post-secondary planning workshops. All sessions will be offered in person, as well as live streamed and recorded. More information and link to register will be available in January 2025 by visiting vsac.org/ccp.

🔴Red Ribbon Week
FHUMHS will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week throughout the week of October 23rd. Red Ribbon Week recognizes and celebrates a drug-free lifestyle. We will be developing events throughout the week and will keep families informed.

October 26th - Rutland Halloween Parade
Come watch our amazing band program participate in the October 26th Rutland Halloween Parade. We are very proud how this group has so successfully represented Slater Nation!
November 4th - Stafford Presentation to Students
Stafford Technical Center will be coming to FHUMHS on November 4th, at 8:00am, for a Sophomore Showcase Presentation (approximately 40 minutes). Later in the school year, Sophomores will travel to STC to experience their amazing programs!
November 7th and 8th - Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences
The Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences are a great opportunity to check your child's progress! Invites will be shared early next week via email. Please sign up (or contact us if you need assistance signing up).
November 18th - Financial Aide Workshop
Come join the FHUMHS Counseling team as they guide families through the financial aide process. Now is the time to begin thinking and planning for Freshmen year in college!
November 20th - FHUMHS Theater Performance
Come see our Theater program perform Steph DeFerie's hilarious "I Hate Shakespeare." The performance begins at 7:00 pm.
