Welcome To Week #3
Dear Brahma Family,
Our Assistant Principal, Dr. Corona, and I met with deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department last week about the traffic around DBHS. The deputies are particularly concerned about vehicles stopping along curbs painted red or in areas marked “No Stopping Any Time”. When vehicles stop in these restricted zones, they create hazardous conditions, such as blocking traffic flow through intersections (e.g., Evergreen Springs and Pathfinder) or obstructing drivers' sightlines, making it unsafe for them to proceed (e.g., along Pathfinder Road). The deputies will continue to issue citations when they are in the area, but they ask that drivers follow the law even when a Sheriff’s vehicle is not in sight.
Please ensure you allow enough time to drive to school and safely drop off your children in the designated student drop-off areas. At the request of the Sheriff's Department, we will be posting additional signs in the coming days and weeks to help keep everyone safe.
Thank you to everyone who came out to Back to School Night. I hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse into what the day looks like for your child. A special thanks to Instructional Dean, Dr. Flores, for organizing Back-to-School Night, and to all of our staff members who contributed to making the opening and the rest of the evening a success.
Our first home volleyball games, not coinciding with Back to School Night, are on Tuesday. Come out and support the Brahmas!
After a tough loss to El Dorado last week, our football team will host their first home game of the season this Friday at 7:00 p.m. against the Westwood Warriors from Mesa, Arizona. Please review and follow all of the Safety Protocols (see flyer below) to make your entry into the stadium smooth and enjoyable.
Brahma Foundation’s donation envelopes were passed out this past Tuesday by USB. A live drawing took place at 4 pm on Friday and there will be another drawing next Friday. Everyone who returns a donation envelope will have a chance to win one of five prizes.
Lastly, congratulations to our Girls Golf Team! The team traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona, last week to compete in the Brophy National High School Golf Invitational Tournament. They finished fifth overall in this prestigious tournament. The top overall finishers included junior Juliet Oh who finished two shots back in third place , and junior Carol Yan who placed tenth. Great job Brahmas!
Sincerely,
David Hong
Principal

The presentation is Wednesday, Sept 4, 2024 from 7-7:45 pm in the DBHS Theater. For those of you who already attended an information meeting last year, this information night will be a bit more in depth than the presentation given when your child was in 8th grade.
