Turtle Lake principal position
A message from Superintendent Lennox

May 9, 2024
Dear Turtle Lake community,
As you recently learned, Kristi Abbott has announced her retirement as principal at Turtle Lake Elementary School. We were fortunate that Kristi devoted nine years of her 32-year career to Mounds View Public Schools leading Snail Lake Kindergarten Center, Island Lake Elementary School and Turtle Lake. Please join me in wishing her the best in her well-deserved retirement.
I am pleased to announce a new principal has been selected for Turtle Lake, pending School Board action. Effective July 1, Andrew Skinner will join Turtle Lake.
Andrew brings 20 years of Mounds View Public Schools experience to Turtle Lake, most recently as principal of Pinewood Elementary School. He previously served as dean of students at Edgewood Middle School and as associate principal at Turtle Lake. He also spent seven years teaching English at Edgewood Middle School. Andrew holds a bachelor’s degree in English from University of St. Thomas and earned a master’s degree in teaching, communication arts and literature from Bethel University. He earned his principal licensure from Hamline University. Andrew’s father, Dick, served as principal of Turtle Lake Elementary School before his retirement in 2010.
I am confident Turtle Lake will continue its tradition of excellence, and I know Kristi and her staff are committed to finishing another positive and productive year with your students. Please join me this spring as we begin to wish Kristi well in her retirement.
Sincerely,
Chris Lennox
Superintendent
