Greetings STAR families,

Fall is certainly near! We are enjoying cooler temperatures for consistent outdoor recess with our STARS, and we could not be more enthusiastic!

Inside of the classrooms, students are writing personal narratives, completing two-step addition and subtraction problems, multi digit multiplication, etc. You may view individual grade level newsletters for specific grade-level unit concepts.

We also encourage you to log into Skyward regularly to view student grades. Please see the job aid below.

As we continue to keep safety at the forefront of everything that we do, here are a few important dismissal reminders:

Car rider line will run along Rocky Valley so that we do not block Bissonnet. We encourage you to enter along Charlmont or Tramore Drive. All cars along Rocky Valley should be car riders only. Due to safety for our STARs and their families, only walkers will be allowed to dismiss from this area.

All AFE students received dismissal tags for their backpacks. Please ensure that your student keeps the tag on their backpack so that we are able to confirm their dismissal daily. We also ask that all families show their physical walker or car tag for pick up. Pictures will not be accepted.

All FBISD families received an email regarding the ID badge and Ridership. Please be sure that if your student is a bus rider, they return the badges each day. Students must utilize badges for lunch and to board FBISD buses. If a student misplaces or damages their badge, guardians must pay a replacement fee.

Reminder: The instructional school day begins at 8:05 am and concludes at 3:25 pm.

The FBISD Board Policy BQB (LEGAL) and (LOCAL) establishes requirements for selection of the Campus Planning Advisory Council (CPAC). The CPAC was formerly called the CBLT. The CPAC, composed of professional staff, parents, community representatives and business representatives [Education Code 11.251(b), .253(b)], is to participate in campus decision-making related to planning, budgeting, curriculum, staffing patterns, staff development and school organization. The CPAC is charged with approving professional development of a campus nature recommended by the principal and is of great importance in the decision-making process.

Just a reminder that background checks are inactive on June 30th of each year. In order to volunteer at campus events (i.e. Field Day, field trips, and other campus activities), a FBISD background check must be completed. Clinic Guidelines

To prevent exposing other student unnecessarily to illness, a student should not come to school if he/she has the following symptoms:

• Vomiting and/or diarrhea within the previous 24 hours
• A temperature of 100 or greater within the past 24 hours
• An undetermined rash

Please log into your child’s Skyward account and update any medical concerns and/or allergies before the first day of school.

Medications

If your child will have any medications in the school clinic, please make certain that the paperwork is completed and signed by a parent/guardian and the physician prior to bringing the medications to the school. Also please be advised that a physician’s order is now required for over-the-counter medications, as well as prescriptions. The clinic will not be able to dispense ANY medication without the form being fully filled out and signed by a parent/guardian AND THE PHYSICIAN.

Forms must be renewed every school year. Even if you filled out a form last year, a new form is required.

Students are NOT allowed to bring medications to school. The medication will need to be brought to the school (along with the permission form) by an adult and checked in through the clinic. If your student is going to carry an epi-pen or inhaler with them for self-dosing, those medications (along with the permission forms) will initially need to be checked in through the clinic, then returned to the student.

AFE Birthday Marquee Shout Out!

**THE COST IS $10 FOR THREE DAYS!

Your child's name will be displayed the day before, the day of, and the day after.

Your birthday message must be directed to a current AFE student.

Advertisements or political statements will not be accepted.

**Please submit your request at least two weeks prior to your student's birthdate. If not within two weeks please call the front office and speak to Ms. Munguia.

Marquee requests that take place during school holidays, or the summer months will not be accepted.

Names and birthday messages will be displayed by 9:30 am.

All messages will say “Happy Birthday” and Child's First name and Last initial.

In the text box, please spell student’s name exactly as you would like it to appear on the marquee and type the student's birthday. We will take it from there and contact you if we have questions.

**Please submit one request per student.

We love birthday's at AFE! Students may stop by the front office and recieve a birthday certificate and your birthday pencil.

Cupcakes are allowed during birthday's only. Please note that only STORE Bought Cupcakes will be accepted. Cupcakes must be turned into the front office by 10am. Cupcakes will be eaten in the cafeteria the last 5 minutes of lunch time. Please do not send any juices, treat bags, candy, chips or balloons on Birthdays!
