It will be a busy week here at Davis Hill! Bus Evacuation Drill on Monday morning, there are a number of Curriculum Nights scheduled (see schedule link HERE) as well as the Ice Cream Social on Friday afternoon (5:30-6:30).

• Monday, September 16th @6:00: 1st Grade Curriculum Night (Parents/ Caregivers Only)
• Tuesday, September 17th @5:30: 3rd Grade Curriculum Night (Parents/ Caregivers and Students)
• Wednesday, September 18th @5:30: 2nd Grade Curriculum Night (Parents/ Caregivers Only)
• Wednesday, September 18th @5:30: 5th Grade Curriculum Night (Parents/ Caregivers and Students Invited)
• Thursday, September 12th: After School Running Club for students in Grades 3, 4 and 5 (Pick-up by 4:30- For students who have signed up).
• Friday, September 20th from 5:30-6:30: Ice Cream Social (Supports 5th Grade Fundraising)

I know that our Curriculum Nights are scheduled and many of our families will be meeting with teachers over the next few weeks. After our Curriculum Nights are complete I will be putting out summary information related to our new ELA Program (HMH) and adding a 'CURRICULUM CORNER' section in the DHUpdate with additional links/ resources.

In addition to our new ELA Curriculum, the District has also moved to Trimesters for all students in Grades K-5 and there will also be an updated Report Card format.

Trimester 1 Report Cards will be available for viewing on December 6th

Trimester 2 Report Cards will be available for viewing on March 21st

and

Trimester 3 Report Cards will be available for viewing on the Last Day of School.

While the report card period is extended, our data collection on student progress is ongoing throughout the year. I will be providing more context on this in future updates.

Once again, Davis Hill will have a School Council (SIMCO) consisting of parents, community members and staff. The group discusses the School Improvement Plan, Budget, (I'd would like to include the Handbook too). If you are interested in serving on this committee or would like more information please let me know. If we have more interest than we do seats, there will be an election process.
