Be sure to read below for IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL PROCEDURES & PICK-UP/DROP-OFF INSTRUCTIONS. Make sure you make a plan with your child for how they will be getting home the first day, including dismissal location. BE SURE YOUR GOLDEN NAME PLACARD IS IN YOUR VEHICLE FIRST DAY :)

With an average high temperature of 105 degrees in August, and 100 degrees in September, we'll be dealing with extreme heat for several weeks. Learn about DVUSD student and athlete safety precautions, and get tips to beat the heat from the Arizona Department of Health Services.

Below is a list of key dates to note as we kick off the new school year:

• August 9, 16, 23, 30: Friday 2:00PM Release (Teacher Training & PLC Days)

• August 13: 2nd Grade + 3rd Grade + 1st Grade Curriculum Night

• August 15: 4th Grade + 5th Grade + 6th Grade & SAGE Curriculum Night

**First Day Flagpole is a BIG EVENT! All students will meet at the center courtyard flagpole the first day of school. Parents/guardians are welcome to join students the first day of school. Please enter through the front office or bus gate entrance (gate located south of the front office in the front bus loop). Once students are dismissed after flagpole to their classes, parents are welcomed to join PTO in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) for light breakfast snacks and refreshments to shed some tears or shout for joy at our Tears & Cheers breakfast. This will also be some time to learn more about our amazing PTO and how you can get involved!

As a reminder, gates open at 8:30AM. School starts promptly at 8:45AM.

The Legend Springs Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a group of parents, teachers, community members and friends who are all about supporting our school, staff and students at Legend Springs Elementary. We are a 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds to supplement school improvements, pay for learning apps that all students use, show appreciation to our teachers and staff and, of course, host fun events that bring together the Leopard Community!

We believe that, together, we can make a positive impact on our children's school and education. We partner with the school and administration and have similar goals - the students are our #1 priority!

Families will not be charged for repairs required due to manufacturer defects or normal wear and tear of the device.

The fee for Device Protection Plan is $25 per child/per school year.

**Note- the cost to replace a fully-damaged chromebook is $250 and will be charged to your child's account if damaged without the protection plan.

Deer Valley Unified School District has begun using a new parent notification system.

The District and our schools have sent messages to parents during the past couple weeks.

All parents should have received an email on Monday July 26 from Deer Valley Unified School District at info@dvusd.org.

If you didn’t receive the email, please check your email’s Spam and/or Junk folders.

• We understand that some of the emails from DVUSD maybe going into junk or spam folders, especially for gmail users. To help fix this problem, move the email from your junk or spam folder into your in box. Also, add the reply to email address from the DVUSD email to your email system’s address book. In addition, add info@dvusd.org and noreply@dvusd.org to your email system’s address book.

DVUSD is continuing to fine-tune this system and will likely run future tests to ensure all parents are receiving important messages from schools and the district.

Please note: If you unsubscribe from an email from either a school or the district, you are unsubscribing from all of the future emails coming from your child’s school and the district.

Thank you for your patience as we implement this new system, which will be more efficient in getting important messages to our parents.
